PVC RESONATOR

This time, I wanted to experiment with a harder and more aggressive sound, inspired by hard techno at 150 bpm with acid veins. To create this track, I used the powerful and versatile modules of the Erica Synths Techno System, a complete Eurorack system for rhythm based music production, live performances and sound design. I also added the Moog DFAM, a semi-modular analog percussion synthesizer that can create rich and dynamic rhythmic patterns. Finally, I sequenced everything with the Syntakt, a compact and intuitive hardware sequencer that can control up to 16 MIDI devices. The result is a dark and hypnotic techno track that will make you feel like you are in a rave party with Spiral Tribe, the legendary sound system collective that pioneered the free party movement in Europe. La Rama is back on wax with two original compositions from local producer/DJ Rig Thrall. We first linked up with the Rakya crew member at the shop and soon after released his music on a limited run 10” named ‘Exit 19’ via our La Rama Dubs sub label. We kept in touch, and when an assortment of unreleased material caught our ears, we quickly jumped on the opportunity to get working on this 4th record on our label.

‘Broken Guru’ drones and grooves you through the cavernous depths, out in to the open, where the clouds part and a voice reaffirms that you are on the right path. From here we dive back into the depths, with the full confidence that this is the right path.

Thanks to two Roman legends, we have variations on the theme of ‘Broken Guru’. Marco Passarani delivers the masterful hyper dance floor club dub with his many years of experience clearly on display… play it out and you will see that this is some kind of sorcery. In speaking of magic, we are honoured to have the one and only Lory D serve us up a bass heavy re-interpretation, recorded in one pass through his live rig and edited to perfection.

‘Acidly Dose’ is the second original from Rig Thrall, an acid infused beat of the highest order with all the necessary elements to give the room a communal high.

Scott McKay, also known as Fear-E, is a DJ and producer based in Glasgow. He specialises in jacking house, techno, and electro, drawing inspiration from the raw early sounds of Chicago, Detroit, and the UK. Additionally, his work as Breakbeat Energy showcases a blend of breakbeat, jungle, and hardcore music influenced by the 90s and early 2000s UK rave scenes. 

Scott has built an impressive discography, releasing music on respected labels such as Dixon Avenue Basement Jams and Dark Entries. He also runs his own label, Posh End Music, which is dedicated to releasing high-quality electronic music that pays homage to his roots. Recently, he founded another outlet, sister label Breakbeat Energy, focusing on all forms of music that stem from the hardcore-oriented spectrum.

Over the past decade, Scott has delivered impactful DJ sets across various venues and festivals in the UK and further afield. He has made guest appearances on several radio shows and has received airplay on BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, and Rinse FM, with his tracks featured in Radio 1's Essential Mix multiple times. His productions have been supported by prominent artists including Dave Clarke, Ben Sims, The Hacker, Randomer, Jerome Hill, Marcel Dettmann, James Ruskin, Bloody Mary, Paul Woolford, Skream, Leftfield, and the late, great Andrew Weatherall.
