I have been an ardent atheist since I was 10 years old. So writing a song about the realistic dark side of organized religion, christianity in particular, felt natural for this album. I was thinking about ideas for songs one morning and the lyrics just came out. There are references to the christian bible, especially in the second verse. Sadly, some of the acts mentioned in this song are still practiced today around the world. This song brings light to all that.

Musically, this song was inspired by doom metal and Frederic Chopin’s Funeral March. The depressing subject matter of the lyrics works well with that style of music. What’s ironic is that funerals are usually religious, but this song is literally blasphemy.

The Three Misery Hell's

Bassist and singer-songwriter, Anthony Bertucci has been playing bass guitar since 2009. He primarily plays in the traditional heavy metal and hard rock genres. Bertucci’s influences include Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Anthrax, and Iron Maiden.

Bertucci started writing original songs in 2017, but he struggled to find himself as a musician and songwriter for a few years. He figured out his style during the recording of what would become his debut full length album Vices, which was recorded between 2019 and 2022 and released in April 2023.

He further ventured into heavy metal while recording his sophomore album AB3 (The Red Album) and third album Swimming in the Clouds. AB3 was released in October 2023 and Swimming in the Clouds was released on January 17, 2025. All three albums were independently mastered, produced, and released.

Bertucci’s Rickenbacker 4003 basses anchor his music while bringing lots of heaviness where its needed. His bass lines also often serve as centerpieces to his songs. He also plays his Squier Jazz Bass with special “piccolo” strings in lieu of a guitar. After struggling to play guitar properly on Vices, he realized that he can use his skills as a bassist to create leads, melodies, and rhythms without an actual guitar. Bertucci’s piccolo bass playing has become an unexpected hallmark of his music.

Currently, Bertucci is recording his fourth full length album.
