Tune into this week’s episode hosted by Austrian DJ and producer MEGABLAST. SASCHA WEISZ, aka Megablast, has been making musical waves for some time now with his unique, eclectic take on contemporary electronic music, a very personal, genre-crossing interpretation of house, afro, Latin, dub, trippy techno, and world beats. His range and ability to enchant the dance floors with percussionists and vocalists make him one of the most impressive and distinct artists in the industry. 
Since his early career in Vienna, where he gained international attention 2006 with the album “Kunuaka” by Makossa & Megablast on Kruder & Dorfmeister’s G-Stone label and more recently from his new home base in the north of Ibiza, he has played at some of the most iconic events and venues all over the world, such as Scorpios Mykonos, Caprices Festival Crans-Montana, Ushuaia, Pablo Fierro’s “We’re Here” at Chinois (formerly Heart), Lio, Blue Marlin, Akasha, Cova Santa Ibiza, Soho Garden Dubai, Vagalume Tulum, Annabel’s London amongst many others. 
With his releases on labels like Sol Selctas, Flying Circus, Madorasindahouse, International Deejay Gigolos, !K7 and his very own Luvlite Recordings as well as having his tracks remixed by influential producers like DJ Koze, Acid Pauli, Lucia- no, Booka Shade, Jenia Tarsol, Chaim, SadoV (Red Axes), Stereo MCs and Henrik Schwarz, he clearly demonstrates his musical repertoire and unlimited love for different genres. 
“As an artist and music producer, it’s important for me to keep the freedom from any genres and not let others put me in a specific category,” he says. “Be yourself, don’t try to be someone else, and be okay with failing sometimes—these experiences make you who you are today. Focus on quality over quantity and don’t believe the hype.”

Makossa & Megablast join up with Cleydys Villalon for a stellar new single on Get Physical Music. An Indie Disco Wobble Dub and Ottinger & FLAVOR remix complete the package.

Viennese duo Marcus Wagner-Lapierre and Sascha Weisz, aka Makossa & Megablast, have been honing their craft for almost 20 years, working on two albums, multiple EPs, and remixes on the likes of G-Stone Recordings, International Deejay Gigolo Records, and Megablast’s own label, Luvlite Recordings. Their unique blend of dub, Afro house, electro, and indie has been enhanced by their frequent collaborations with the accomplished Cuban singer Cleydys Villalon, a partnership that continues with this new single.

The release came about after Makossa & Megablast discovered an old gem from 2012 on their hard drives. It featured Villalon, who they had already worked with on their anthemic 'Soy Como Soy'. During a trip to the stunning Santa Teresa in Costa Rica, Weisz was invited to perform at the picturesque Ranchitos Itauna where he played this track and ranch owner Peter Ottinger was so captivated he asked for a copy. A few weeks later, Philipp Jung from Get Physical performed at the same venue and upon hearing Ottinger play the track, he immediately fell in love with it and contacted Megablast to sign it to Get Physical Music.

Opener 'Cuerpo' is six minutes of soul-drenched deep house. The smoky female vocals are angelic and alluring as they swirl next to delicate keys over warming drums. It's a lush world of sound with meaningful synth work casting a fine spell. The Indie Disco Wobble Dub brings more driving drums and psyched-out synth arps. They flip the mood into more edgy and late-night territory before trippy melodies rise up through the mix like reverse rain. Last of all is the Ottinger & FLAVOR Itaúna Sound Movement Remix, which is sleek house with zoned-out vocals and exotic melodic
flavours for summer dancing.

As a percussionist and music lover, I find myself on a constant treasure hunt, searching for rhythms and music that move me. This lifelong journey of practice, performance and discovery have taken me all over our planet from North and South America,  to the Caribbean and of course Europe. Through the grind of it all, I have met and performed for so many amazing people of all different backgrounds but yet we all seem connected in the groove.  I have shared some real special moments on stage with artists such as Dj Bosq,  Nickodemus NYC and Gordon Clay aka Nappy G of Turntables on the Hudson, the DRM, Manhattan Samba, DJ Genti And Noki, Jeremy Sole, Dj Sabo, DJ Sweetbo and so many more the list can go on but I am truly thankful for all the special moments shared with my friends and looking forward to what comes next. Being around and performing with live bands as well as these super talented Dj's and producers have lead me to where we are now at Beats Collective Radio. This is something I put together and have been thinking about for years where l share the music that inspires me in hopes that you'll find something special in it too. No matter the language or culture, style/genre, tempo and even timeline... if it moves me, I'm all for it. You can expect a variety of shows for you to enjoy in various genres going forward.
