Number 7 of our OYE Podcast Series is coming from a well-known figure in the dub techno music industry. We are very happy to have him delivering a mix for us. Thanks Kenneth Christiansen

Kenneth is the owner of Echocord Records one of the most relevant dub techno labels, which has recently celebrated 20 years of activity. He is also running the Echocord sublabel Echocord Colour, and the label and project Pattern Repeat with his long-time friend Resoe. 

Since the late 1990s, Kenneth has frequently been spinning at Tresor in Berlin and other popular clubs and festivals all over Europe. His career in the genre dates back to his time spent working in record stores, running clubs and festivals in his hometown Copenhagen.

Our next OYE Podcast is coming from a really lovely lady, who is making big steps in her music career these days. She is a regular customer at OYE. Always with a smile on her face, such a sweety! This is a only vinyl DJ set recorded live at Tresor.

For Shaleen every day in life is being accomplished by a constant rhythm. Inspired by the warmth of analogue sounds she found herself in playing vinyl only sets most of the time. Her DJ-Sets are pushing forward, mostly 90’s influenced combined with modern and exciting layovers.

As a resident of the transcendent "We Are Not Alone" events, Shaleen regularly casts her spell over Revier Südost Berlin. Her residency with Seelen. Records finds her a frequent guest at the revered Institut für Zukunft and the legendary Distillery Leipzig, solidifying her status as a techno shaman of the highest order.

Her event series SURD stands as the vanguard of the first feminine/queer movement in West Germany's Ruhr-Area, an indomitable force since its inception in 2016 and still reverberating with defiant energy.

To her, techno isn't just music; it's a pilgrimage to the roots, a homage to its origins that must never be forgotten.

Our next OYE podcast is something very special because it comes from our lovely team member Gaia aka Formella. She delivers a colorful mix that ranges from deep techno to breaks to UK-influenced beats.

Formella´s sets are known for their diversity and range, you can hear her musical knowledge gained from working in Berlin record shop OYE Records. Her sets are full of surprises, and never lacking energy. For her it’s all about connecting with the crowd and keeping them on their toes. 

London born, Berlin based, Formella has taken on the Berlin club scene by storm, playing at HÖR multiple times, including for a Typeless Records showcase, and venturing beyond Germany to renowned clubs such as Thekla in Bristol for Interplanetary Criminals UK tour and Ankali in Prague. 

She is now delving into the realm of electronic music production, honing her musical theory skills learnt from piano and side flute, to work on her debut EP.

Hailing from Tel Aviv and based in Berlin, Ady Todelano is one of the most consistent forces on the queer scene in the German capital. Known for his long sets combining different genres and energy levels, with regular appearances in Cocktail d'Amore, Lab.Dance, RIOT, where he is a part of the collective and a resident.

He plays renowned clubs such as Renate, Berghain, Tresor, Alphabet in Tel Aviv, Good Room in New York and in the virtual world with live broadcasts like HÖR and recently at Refuge Worldwide where he has joined forces with Geoffrey LaRue to create a Time Machine.

Our dear friend Subradeon is the next for our OYE Podcast series. This 3 hours mix is a live recording from our OYE night at Renate. It´s a groovy house mix full with funk, soul and jazz influenced vibes. 

Subradeon is a musical mission started more than fifteen years ago in southern Italy, well known as a territory rich in artistic and musical vanguards, with the intention to continue and be an active part of that message born in Detroit’s streets in the middle 80’s: “live the music” as a universal message, as the most important thing, as a cultural movement. One thing is clear, from the first listen one can appreciate their innovative ability, their creativity in mixing different styles, honoring the pure techno sound with the soul of Motown combined with elements that range from hip hop to jazz, from funk to soul. 

2018 is the year of Subradeon Records. “God Bless” EP was the first release that opened the doors to the electronic music scene. From there followed a series of releases on several labels such as Hardgroove, Rekids, Sous Music, Character, and two new EPs on Subradeon records. Subradeon has established a powerful role behind the decks, showcasing its skills at renowned clubs such as Tresor, Radion, Kalt, Watergate, and many more around Europe. “Trying to accurately convert the human experience into sound”.

Next one in our OYE Podcast series in the lovely and always friendly Violeta. We know her from being a regular customers at our record store. That´s why it was clear, that she has to be a part of our well selected podcast. For this mix she dives into the progressive house of the early 2000s, spiced with dubby deep and tech house. 

Vio PRG has spent a decade immersed in the music industry in her native Romania, which has informed her most recent endeavor as a radio show host on Berlin community radio Refuge Worldwide and resident at beloved club staple Renate.

OYE Podcast #17 Vio PRG

With heart, vinyl, and an unmistakable energy, Sabine Hoffmann has been shaping Berlin’s club scene since the early 2000s. Her musical roots run deep in hip-hop, soul, and funk – but it was her passion for electronic sounds that ultimately defined her artistic journey. Sabine’s love for the analog world is felt in every one of her sets. Through her pure vinyl performances, she creates sonic journeys spanning techno, electro, Chicago and Detroit house, infused with acid, funk, and breakbeats.

As the founder of the event series "Frauengedeck," she provides a platform for female DJs – not only in legendary Berlin venues like ://about blank, Salon zur wilden Renate, and the Kantine am Berghain, but also internationally, from Armenia to Georgia. Since 2016, Sabine has been a vital part of the OYE Records team, curating club events, in-store performances, and hosting the OYE podcast series.

In her interview with Andre Kronert, Sabine opens up about thrilling moments before her sets, the origin stories and heartfelt missions behind her event series "Frauengedeck" and "Dub Nation," her early encounters with electronic music – and of course, her deep passion for vinyl. For Sabine, DJing is about more than just technique: it’s about feeling – and sometimes, that means letting a needle jump if it keeps the music alive and raw.

Sabine Hoffmann - Acid House Vinyl Only Mix - VINYL MATTERS 022

Next one in our OYE Podcast series is our regular customer Katharina aka Kat Davids. Her beautiful mix moves between deep and dub house. It has a dreamy and light structure, it flows… Including some all-time classics this is a must listen piece of music.

Berlin based DJ & Producer Kat Davids' selections are inspired by the depth of Detroit, Body-High Dub house, Deep house and Dub techno. Whether holding a tight atmosphere at a club or letting loose at festivals - always striving to allow people to lose oneself in a musical journey for a night.

With an intimate space that feels raw and honest, Kats’ music is characterized by her own vocals, field recordings, playful percussions and driving bass lines. Her releases “dust” on Intercept Records, the single “Haunted” on Tresor Records, and a collaboration track with Cecilia Tosh on the Nachtdigital Vinyl LP, will be followed by her debut Vinyl EP in 2025.

She has played at some well-known institutions such as Tresor, Watergate, Revier Südost, ELSE Club, Weltspiele Hannover and toured in Latin America and South Africa with diverse DJ gigs and DJ Workshops. Since her LIVE Set debut at Berghain / Säule 2024, she had LIVE appearances at festivals like Nachtdigital.

Since November 2022, she has hosted her own regular show on the well-established THF Radio Berlin, featuring over 50 guests ranging from newcomers to legends. In the summer of 2022, she also founded the FLINTA* collective V.A. Femme* with the aim of fostering mutual support and providing a space to learn and exchange musically.
