2024 has unarguably been a great year for Electro both with overall visibility for the public as well as with the sheer number of quality releases being put out over the year. With a newfound buzz surrounding my beloved genre, I'm hardly keeping up! I feel like It was a busy year both production-wise and promotion-wise for @DVSNME and @DarkScienceElectro respectively, however, I found some time to put together a mix of my personal favorite tracks from 2023. Jamie B is a record collector & DJ from the UK residing in Sydney, Australia. He's been collecting vinyl for over 3 decades with an eclectic range of influences including Punk, Dub, Hip Hop, Electro, Disco, House, Techno & everything in between.

In the early 90’s, Jamie fell in love with the sounds of Electro, UK Bleep & Bass & Detroit Techno. Inspired by DJ's such as Dave Clarke, Andrew Weatherall, Laurent Garnier & Jeff Mills, he began crafting his skills & playing gigs around London. Today his style still favours House, Techno & Electro sounds, with a strong focus on mixing things up & dropping curveballs to keep the dancefloor on its toes.
 
Alongside fellow crate digger, Raffi Irie Lovechild, Jamie hosts SOKA LOKA MOKI, a monthly night of eclectic sounds where you’ll hear the likes of Chaka Khan, Kraftwerk & Prince, rubbing shoulders with A Tribe Called Quest, Larry Heard & Moodymann.

Jamie is also a member of GOT MUSIC, a convergence of DJs & artists hosting regular events in Sydney exploring the deeper pockets of electronic music.

All DJ mixes are recorded live using 2X Technics 1200's & a Xone: 23 mixer.

Music Style: a fusion of Micro House sounds with a techy-afro, uplifting core that propels the track into a progressive funk motion.

Karim Yousry is a veteran in the Egyptian DJ scene, having been a driving force since the early 2000s. Despite his long career, he continues to push boundaries and evolve his sound, always seeking out new and exciting music spectrum to share with the world. His commitment to staying fresh and relevant has earned him a reputation as one of the most innovative and forward-thinking DJs in the country.

Known for his ability to tell a compelling story with music. Since 2003, he has refined his craft and developed his own unique style, characterized by profound depth, bold experimentation, and an uncompromising dedication to originality.

His extensive range of music and ability to seamlessly maneuver through different genres have earned him a reputation as a solid storyteller. Whether performing for an intimate crowd or a packed dance floor, Karim's music takes his audience on an unforgettable journey.

Through his work, Karim has had the opportunity to share the stage with internationally renowned acts like James Zabiela, Artbat, Mark Knight, Nick Warren, and more. He is respected not just for his technical skills, but for his ability to connect with audiences and take them on an unpredictable voyage. 

One of Karim's biggest achievements was his successful "Abstrakt" event, which provided a platform for upcoming artists to showcase their talent while inviting some of the most prestigious international artists to share their underground sets. Karim's commitment to promoting and supporting other artists speaks to his passion for the music and the community that surrounds it.

In 2018, Karim won the "Mix of the Month" competition hosted by Decoded Magazine, a testament to his skill and creativity as a DJ. His signature morning gig "Tangerine" by the Nile has also been a huge success.

Karim's mixes have been featured on Frisky Radio, Proton Radio, Deep House Toronto, and the vinyl-only label Romanian Label "Audio Mutz." He is known for infusing his sets with his own unreleased productions, giving them a unique sound and style.

In addition to his love for rare old hidden gems, Karim is always digging for new sounds and experimenting with different genres, including micro, Afro, and deep house. The result is an edgy, funk-inspired style that is unmistakably his own.

Karim’s production work continues to gain international recognition. He recently released a track on the acclaimed Tzinah Records VA, a label supported by leading names in the industry. Additionally, his remix for Francesca Lombardo’s “Wanna Dance” was selected as one of the winning entries in the prestigious Echolette remix competition, further cementing his reputation as a creative force in the electronic music scene.
