There are days in winter when one day is like the other. Of course, it's the fog that intensifies the impression here.
I looked for a sound in the Roli EQUATOR 2, put STEPIC over it, adjusted the speed,... It was ok for me.
Then I added the other tracks.
The track may be long. But such are the foggy days (smile)

Layered musical escalation..? It starts with two variations, before the eventual settled melody to the finish. As with a lot of my recent work, I have tried to progress the composition as quickly as possible to the point where I feel it is done - after all, time is precious, so if you can spare 3 minutes, I am very grateful.

A Matter of Pride

Closing in on the end of the Fracture project, a more traditional sound and progression. Ableton Live is thankfully becoming more second nature than the hard slog however many songs ago, and I am just scratching the surface. As ever Air, Roli and Arturia Pigments provide the VSTs.

Trial by Association

Here endeth the lesson(s). I'm pleased to present the final track in the Fracture project. Second Chances tells the story of redemption, even when it seems so far away. I feel like I am one with Ableton, or at least far more competent that when I started the project. I genuinely thought it wasn't the tool for me - so if I can do it, anyone can. Persevere!

Drifting without maps

A reworking of Contemplation, for fun. Each part is just the same sequence running on a different instrument, except for the drums, obvs.

Contemplation (Fix Mix)

Another accidental track, born from the usual piano and strings nonsense. The track has quite the drive, and a slightly darker tone.

Maintaining the theme of Musings, I start noodling with piano and strings and see where the vibe takes me.

Promise Me gets the treatment. Soundcloud is going rampant with demonetising so I won't even mention the word. Anyway, something a bit more upbeat. Enjoy.

We all feel it at times, and I guess that's what I tried to capture here. The progression hopefully signifies an inevitable escape.

Weight of the World

Initially a dream track (which I was DJ scratching via a touchscreen tablet - don't ask?!), this evolved into something quite different, hence it's only fitting to be the first track of the Out of Bounds project. I don't feel limited by the tools or the genre(s) at all anymore, so I'll let these tracks take me where they will.

Already There

Indulgently rousing? It's sounding like an advert for bath soap or chocolate, but I very much enjoyed the unnecessarily epic intro, followed by some energetic EDM.

Existential Ascension

I have been creating music since my misspent youth. Every song has a story.

I started with sample based tracks via Dance eJay and Acid Music on my x486 PC, the output from which I would describe as interpretive.

My first writing from scratch started with the glorious Yamaha RM1x and subsequently the Yamaha RS7000. With limited responsibility and seemingly endless weekends, I found the creative spark.

I have diddled a bit with my Teenage Engineering OP-1, Novation Circuit and Korg Electribe 2 (see tracks for evidence), and I briefly touched the Native Instruments Maschine MK2 but I didn't have the PC power to run with that.

Once Akai announced the MPC Live, I was positively salivating and purchased on release.

It has always been about an all in one box solution for me, and now I am only limited by my own creativity and precious free time (thanks, kids).

I write things that I like to listen to, but commercial music this is not. I could see my music in a game, artsy video or fever dream.

At least, when it's all done, I can say that I made some nice noise, even if nobody else thinks so.
