Fretless is an MJT body with a Precision fretless ebony neck, Seymour Duncan Antiquity II pickups Hipshot with D tuner
Fretted is a MIM Geddy Lee body with Lollar 70's Jazz  pickups
Badass bridges and passive wiring. The  string buzz is a result of playing in front of loud monitors and would appear only on certain positions, Need to work on grounding and also the phone seems to create a high pitch noise - Oh well.

This week, it’s a full-on gear & memory lane jam session! I kick things off by showing off my brand-new guitar stand and giving you a fresh look at the rearranged studio—the guitars have never looked better. We jump right into guitar talk, and I reveal my latest impulse buy: an Ernie Ball red guitar strap (which, of course, I quickly realized I didn’t even need 😅). That leads to a deep dive into my guitar strap collection, many of which were still attached to guitars now proudly displayed on the new stands.

I also bring out my Danelectro Eric Clapton model for a close-up, while Ron shares stories about the Seymour Duncan pickups in his guitars. From there, we take a nostalgic turn—sharing memories from our old bands.

I dig into my time with The May Fire, showing never-before-seen photos & videos from gigs at Hollywood, Chicago, SXSW & Antone's Nightclub in Austin, Silver Lake Lounge in LA, and Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. I even break out a couple of my stage warriors from those days: my 1983 Hamer A5 Phantom and my Fender Telecaster ’72 Reissue Custom.

Ron brings the heat with photos from his previous band, and we wrap up with a heartfelt trip down rock ’n’ roll memory lane. 🎶🔥

Talking Guitars: New 🎸Stand, Strap Collection, Danelectro Clapton, Band Memories & More! 8/8/25

On this episode of Talking Guitars, I kick things off by showing you my Kramer Focus 1000 that I just put fresh strings on yesterday—make sure you check out that episode if you missed it! 🎶

Then we dive into an epic story: Ozzy Osbourne once revealed that Nuno Bettencourt was the only guitarist to ever tell him “no” when it came to joining his band—a rejection Ozzy never forgot. Ozzy’s ear for guitar greatness had already been proven when he pulled Randy Rhoads out of Quiet Riot. Nuno shared how, at just 14, after Randy’s passing, he actually mailed in a cassette to audition for Ozzy—but never got a response. Years later, Nuno’s band Extreme landed a track, Play With Me, on the Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure soundtrack, and that’s when Ozzy really took notice. 🤘

Ron hits the workbench and shows off some pickups he’s planning to drop into one of his guitars. Meanwhile, I share some exciting plans—tomorrow morning I’ll be at Music Therapy Laz’s studio filming a demo of the MXR Randy Rhoads pedals: the Polka Dot, the brand-new version, and of course the Yellow Distortion+! I’ll be doing that LIVE on my channel first thing Wednesday, so don’t miss it. 🔥

To wrap things up, I head to my own workbench and start removing the nut from a left-handed Ibanez Roadster scalloped neck I scored at the legendary Starving Musician in Santa Clara. That’s where tonight’s show ends—but the guitar fun never stops here on Johnny Beane TV!

Talking Guitars! 🎸 Spinal Tap Sequel Review, Guitar Fixes & Epic Unboxing! 9/16/25

🔥 On this episode of Talking Guitars we’ve got a packed show! First up — I let you know I’ll be heading out to see the legendary Andy Summers at the Presidio Theatre in San Francisco this Saturday night. That means no Saturday Night Show this week… but don’t worry, I’ll be filming B-roll all day and might even go LIVE from the city. 🎥⚡

🎸 Speaking of B-roll, I take you inside Guitar Showcase with a full walk-through of the shop — guitars everywhere, cool gear, and a hands-on demo of the brand-new BOSS Plugout FX-PX-1 pedal. Interesting little unit, but kind of tricky to navigate!

📸 We also check out some awesome guitar photos sent in by Guitar Bob — this guy has some seriously cool axes!

🛠️ Then it’s over to the workbenches: Ron tears apart Alex Radford’s Jackson Kelly, swapping in Seymour Duncan pickups, dropping in an EVH bridge, and even adding some wild green splatter to the finish. Meanwhile, I’m swapping out a loaded pickguard on a Fender Squier Stratocaster with a Tele neck (big thanks to Bay Area Rich!).

🌈 And to wrap it all up, I experiment with some trippy studio lighting effects — things got a little psychedelic in here!

That’s Maricela “MJ” Juarez, the legendary pickup builder from the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop, recalling the moment Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith gave her the ultimate onstage shoutout that brought her to tears of joy! 🙌

MJ’s built pickups for icons like Eddie Van Halen, Billy Gibbons, David Gilmour, and Peter Frampton — and during Sweetwater’s recent Guitar Fest, she revealed that seeing her work come alive on stage with Joe and Josh was her proudest moment ever. 🎶

From recreating the iconic Frampton Comes Alive! humbuckers to crafting tone magic for Joe Bonamassa’s Greenburst Strat, MJ’s fingerprints are all over rock history.
