This is the Official Artist Page for Universus, Drew Vawter's alternative rock project based in the United States and begun in the early 2000s in Atlanta, GA. We are the *only* Universus. 

Currently releasing singles for our upcoming third album, an extremely dark foray into isolation and rejection, while also working on some *very* special covers. Stay tuned!

Our music is a mercurial, introspective array of sounds fused with elements of industrial, psychedelia, and blues. 

Our primary influences are The Doors, Nine Inch Nails, Sigur Ros, The Cure, Marilyn Manson, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Type 0 Negative, Leather Strip, and The Beatles.

Our first album, Zero, was recorded and mixed down on a Tascam analog 4- track. We were at a very dark period in our life (both emotionally and financially, but not spiritually), and the music is raw, extreme, multi-layered, and an extremely personal testament to Ourselves.

All of my tracks on Soundcloud are free to download. 100% of my tracks on Soundcloud are my own original works, I don't do covers, arrangements or remixes.  I mainly write melodies, my pieces usually consist of a lot of melodic content and are melody driven. My music is multi-instrumental, I use many different instruments.. Many of my pieces contain more notes than a Pop song, less notes than a symphony. 

I compose music in many genres: Children's, Jazz, Melodic, Ethnic, Space, Halloween, Classical, Southern/Western, Rock. My music encompasses a lot of variety, it is eclectic. All my pieces have been notated, contact me and send me your email address if you want free PDF's of particular compositions. I currently use Sibelius 7.1.3 and Noteperformer. I have been writing music since I was in Junior High School, I have some songs with lyrics, but most are instrumentals. I was in band in High School and College, and I have been a member in several choirs as well.  

Update: I have recently uploaded virtually all of the compositions I have composed since 1997. I have included playlists as part of my offerings, with compositions from many novel genres.

I am open to collaborations with members of Soundcloud.

I have many pieces that are crafted primarily using the Aeolian scale. Some examples include, "Exotic Emerald", "Starlight Vow", "Bard 2 with Violin", "An Evening in Chatham Bay" and "Sacred Turkish Fountain".
