Mixtape 1:
One of the paths that led me towards DJing was collecting mixes and playing them at the right time and place - on the beach, at a kitchen party, on a roadtrip… This is the first in a series of seasonal mixes that I hope to share over the coming months.

I’m not sure if this one is a mixtape for lovers or a sex tape. Either way - Spring is in the air! 

I have a ‘not so secret’ love affair with Yacht Rock, Jazz Rock, Soft Rock and the likes. Music that has the sleazy, sometimes overproduced feeling of a by-gone era. An era of excessive amounts of sunshine, convertibles, time spent poolside, and lots of cocaine. 

When it comes to the musical production of this era, it feels like they had more session musicians than they could shake a stick at and I love how many instruments they seem to sneak in there, whether it be plunks on a xylophone or a few bars from a flute.

Mixtape 1: Yacht Rock

Welcome to EP 313 of the NDYD Radio Show as we return to our old friend The Yacht to chill and enjoy lounge interpretations of our favorite tunes. I ended up splitting this mix into two parts as the original one take set is almost 5 hours long (!!). I was so into this set while making it that I just kept going very late into the night - almost until the sun came up. Thank God I wasn't working the next day :) Next week I will post the second part  but for now enjoy the first two hours and come chill with me.

... and here it is. The second part of last week's yacht lounge mix. As I said then the whole thing is over 4 hours long so I thought it would be a good thing to split it into two sections. If you play them back to back you will notice that it was one long set. I think i got the chill vibe out of me in these last two weeks so next week back to our regular deep house, disco, and just damn good music. BTW getting the chill out of me doesn't mean there will be no more Yacht Lounge. I still have enough chill tracks to fill at least 4 more episodes. All in time so for now enjoy this part of the collection and see you back next week.

Yash - Green Vogue Heliotrope (A Stoner Disco Mix)

Ricardo Torres, a West Coast DJ, is known for blending deep, soulful house and disco with a smooth, sultry West Coast vibe. His music is crafted for true dance music enthusiasts, delivering uplifting, groovy, and sexy experiences rooted in the underground scene.

Ricardo’s DJ journey began in 1987 at a college radio station in Montreal, Canada, where he initially spun industrial electronic music. By 1988, he was introduced to Chicago House and was captivated by its fresh energy, changing his musical direction. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s sun-drenched, soulful vibe and influences from DJs like Jay-J, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Mark Farina, and Miguel Migs drew him toward the deeper West Coast sound.

In 2000, Ricardo pioneered sharing his mixes online, a bold and innovative step that garnered him international recognition. This exposure led to global performances and opportunities, while he also became a syndicated radio host on satellite and online platforms.

Around 2016 Ricardo partnered with Germany’s Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD), a leading advocate for the Nu Disco genre. Their collaboration birthed the NDYD Radio Show, which Ricardo hosts weekly, showcasing top global talent and steadily growing a loyal listener base. For Ricardo, Nu Disco offers a modern bridge for the soulful West Coast vibe to resonate with newer generations.

While underground music trends have evolved over the decades, Ricardo’s passion remains unwavering: playing music that inspires people to get up, dance, and celebrate the timeless groove of house music.

As a child, Diego spent his free time practising gymnastics and playing the piano. Today he is involved in performance training, holistic wellness and music production.

This search for balance and wellness informs his music, where acoustic scenarios move between essentialism and attention to detail. The arrangements move around a stable core, creating and releasing tension.

Higher State Of Elevation represents Diego Suarez's debut as a producer: a playful and light-hearted approach, achieved with the collaboration of Camillo Corona, whose class shines through in the mixdown.

Following a long phase of sound research and experimentation with field recordings, Diego uses a capture of his vocal improvisation recorded from an old iPhone to present himself naked and sincere. Philosophy Of Desire is mixed by MadMaxim, who beautifully interprets the personal and introspective mood.

From this shared understanding with MadMaxim, a joint project was born, culminating in Ode To The Lobe, the fruit of intense experimentation and millions of micro-decisions.
