This is track one.
Not because it begins everything, but because it was the first thing that asked to be heard.

I wrote Grown Well for my daughter, during a season when I couldn't name what I felt: a strange blend of joy, fear, grief, guilt, and grace.

But truthfully, it was also for myself. For the version of me who didn't know how to hold such feelings. For the part of me that kept forgetting it was allowed to feel soft.

The song came slowly, like breath through memory, or like speaking to someone who doesn't yet understand words.

It was recorded quietly in a prayer room using an iPad, while the world was asleep and my heart was too loud to ignore.

Grown Well is a letter. Or maybe a lullaby. Or maybe just me trying to hold a moment before it disappeared.

For her.
For the boy I used to be.
For the man I'm still learning to be.

It may sound deeply personal. But I hope fren. can also be a place whre anything unnamed can come home.

Their debut release PITY PARTY is a four track EP rooted in stories of heartbreak, loneliness and transatlantic identity crises. Between ambient folk, quiet memory, and the sound of trying again.

MUSIC MADE IN CANADA: Music has been a large part of my life since my teen years when I started playing guitar. Used to play popular pop and country songs in bars, songs written by other artists but for past couple decades have focused entirely on writing and producing my own songs across a number of genres: pop, country, blues, and more recently dream pop and what I'm calling whiskey blues dream pop, a style that merges the two and that seems complimentary to my ear. I believe each style can sound good and give people pleasure: that's my goal in writing. Now I produce sounds featuring both male and female vocals as the lyrics dictate; variety is the spice of...well, you know. Thanks for listening.
