Back again for show 17 of the promo show. These are some of the best techno tracks of the last 8 or so weeks. Its always a journey of discovery doing these mixes as I don't really get to hear the full breadth and range of the music really until I listen to the whole mix back. With the amount of music we get sent, the decision to include the tracks or not, gets made within about 5 or 10 seconds of listening to them, and is somewhat done on 20 years of instinct. Editing the hundreds of tracks down in two stages lets me get a feel of where they should sit in the mix and if I like them. I also rarely re-do a mix, not just because of the time it takes but you never really catch the vibe the same way, second time round. So you get the first take on most of these mixes, mistakes and all, with me feeling my way though the music almost blind. There are a couple of mistakes in this mix. A whopper in the middle which I tried to style my way out of and fail. But the main purpose of the promo show is to showcase the artists music and in this regard the mixes are evidence of their original purpose. When they stop being this, or im not into what is being produced, ill probably stop doing the show. Listening to this one back, this is probably the one with the most interesting sounds in it and for me and listening to it back brought me a bit of excitement as it seems to give me a little glimpse of the future direction of the techno sound. At least to my old ears anyway. As usually please support the artists in their endeavours, buy their music, give them a like, or follow them on socials. Enjoy.

The Streamer
1-2-3, next step by Mr. Syntax Error, head of Snork Enterprises, with tracks spread over a variety of styles – between some trancey electro breaks, wonky raw heavy bass techno, chicagoish banging grooves or chilling electro. It´s all what he loves, and the label stands for. Not just a big focus on one working thing, not oldschool or newschool – techno has no boundaries, and snorky techno even less. In an algorhytmic synchronized social media world, breaking boundaries nowadays feels risky. Being raised in a techno world full of party night with a lot of memories and emotions far away from streaming, liking and being liked – this has always been his core influence and he put all into his grooves and rhythm. Same works for his label where he has always curated music from artists who were formative to him during party nights. His personal style sets the tone, far away from trends and buzz. This makes it special. This makes it complicated. This makes it true.

SYNTAX ERROR
Exactly this world of the deep and groovy techno music is the well-known territory of Syntax Error. Having started as techno DJ in the late 90ies, he soon found his very special sound favoring deep wobbly bass-lines, harsh snares, FM tones and drones, deep bass drums and tricky percussion. Like a syntax error, he breaks with commonplace regularities and creates a wholly new sound experience that is highly recognized within the techno scene.
Up to 2019, he has produced over 20 different 12” releases on the labels Snork Enterprises, Feinwerk, Relax2000 and UNDERtheGROUND Records. Each of his releases is an authentic, passionate creation of sound always mirroring some experience from his personal life - whether it’s from his adventures as scuba diving tycoon, as sonar operator or as DJ and producer enthusiastically roaming the techno club scene in Germany and abroad. In 2018, he finally realized his dream and went on his first Japan tour performing amongst others in the well-known Contact Club in Tokyo and live on air on the famous Japanese media platform Dommune.

It’s an experienced and passionate label having found its very special booth in the techno scene. 2004, it all started with nowadays sublabel Feinwerk. It was the first step towards ten years of genuine underground sound. Founded by techno DJ and producer Christian Schachta, known as Syntax Error, Snork Enterprises soon developed into a base for modern underground electronic techno music placed in Gießen, a small town, right in the middle of Germany. Watch out! It does not always have to be London, Berlin or Chicago!
