The account of the Philippian jailer in Acts 16 describes two missionaries who were too thankful to run out on Jesus. Paul and Silas didn't run from a demon, a beating, a jail, or a city. And why not? Their eyes were fixed on Christ and his calling. They were simply too thankful to run!

This sermon addresses the challenging question of why God seems to delay or is "late" in responding to prayers, particularly when people are facing prolonged troubles, drawing specifically on the Biblical account of Jesus resurrecting Lazarus four days after his death. The speaker proposes three spiritual reasons for God's apparent unresponsiveness. The first reason is that God often waits to perform a greater and more marvelous act than what was originally requested, using the examples of Lazarus's resurrection (versus a simple healing) and the parting of the Red Sea (versus Pharaoh simply releasing the Israelites). The second reason is that delays and hard times serve to reveal and strengthen one's faith, growing it through successive tests and temptations, much like Abraham's faith developed over time. Finally, the third reason is that God's timing ensures that events unfold at the perfectly appointed time for everything under heaven, as illustrated by Joseph's prolonged imprisonment leading him to a position of ultimate influence rather than simply a quick release back into servitude.

This is the rebirth. Not a perfect ending, just a true beginning. This track is about becoming the man I needed growing up, the father my son deserves, and the version of myself that can finally breathe without hiding. It’s the arrival after years of running.

BECOMING

Everyone gets handed a script growing up. Mine told me to keep the peace, never need too much, and stay small enough to not be a problem. This track is me realizing that the script kept me alive once but now it’s killing me. So I’m rewriting it.

SURVIVAL SCRIPT

This track goes straight to the root the first belief that shaped everything else. The belief that being my true self would lead to abandonment. Once you name the core wound, you can finally stop obeying it. This is the heart of the entire album.

THE CORE WOUND

This track is about the part of yourself you lock away because you don’t know what to do with the pain. The “shadow” isn’t evil, it’s just the pieces of you that carried what your childhood self couldn’t. This is me going downstairs in my own mind and finally meeting the version of me I abandoned.
