For this instalment of the mix series, we've been presented with an hour of European goodness from one of our friends in Berlin, Gigi @giana-magosin.

After having ventured from America for creative pursuits, Gigi's been able to effortlessly mould herself into Europe's ever evolving music scene, having played at off-the-track parties and boutique festivals across the continent. 

This mix encompasses a sound that may spark curiosity, yet feel warm and familiar - a unique symbiosis. A solid house rhythm forms the basis of the mix, with melodies, classy techno cuts, and attractive textures deviating in and out.

El músico que ocupa este programa se adhiere como una lapa a cualquiera de estas dos acepciones.

Recorremos la carrera musical de este misterioso artista, creador de una manera de llegar, de salir y de entrar en tu oído; adalid de la emotividad y del sentimiento por encima de cualquier otro sentido capaz de ser despertado por el arte; Es música que conmueve. Part 1 OMAKASE #281, GOLD CODE

After changing city twice in 2020 - from Newcastle to Belgrade, then Belgrade to Manchester - Avenue Red has now settled here permanently in the capital of Northern England. For the first time since doing so, we are happy to present a mix from this great city as we introduce Quadrant Soundscape, a dynamic duo of promotors, DJs, producers & podcasters, each also operating under other guises (Asphalt Layer/Scavenger). They also run the Dub Explorations series, which has been alive for exactly 5 years to date. This platform is aptly-titled and through it they have transmitted 71 episodes of mind-bendingly deep, dubby, intergalactic techno sounds alongside a few intriguing guests.

As we enter March and the spring season, let's embrace the uplifting vibes, the green shoots, the longer and brighter days. Let's usher in this new era of newfound optimism and hope with this cool, calm, collected blend of eclectic, soul-warming electronic music by these 2 passionate Mancunian "deep heads"!

"Firstly, thank you to Alec for the opportunity to become part of the Avenue Red family, joining the incredible artists already in the series is a real privilege. This mix has been in the works for almost a year now and has taken many different forms during that time. Originally a submission made a year ago could not be released due to a defect with the recording, but here is the fresh new stereo take!

Undoubtedly this time has been tough for all of us, and so this mix is a refection and reaction to how we've been feeling. There are elements of happiness, sadness, madness and everything in-between, all tracks were carefully considered and are all there on merit, bringing together our love of all things deep, dubby, house-y. Gold Code aka Raf Zevallos-Crowe, is a dj/producer based in Orange County, California. A lifelong music lover, collector and veteran dj, Raf's eclectic sets run the gamut of dance music with a base in house and techno.

Growing up in 1980s Los Angeles, he was initially inspired by radio mixshows and djs such as: Doc Martin, Rob One, Michael "Mixxin" Moore, and 1580 KDAY Mixmasters. Moving to San Francisco in 1992, he immersed himself in its underground scene. Attending parties lead to working them and eventually to djing. He played his first warehouse in 1996 and spent the next 10 years djing and producing some of San Francisco’s most infamous parties and club nights.

"Gold Code" was initially founded as a music blog in 2007. The site showcased past, present, and future classics and as well as his personal edits and dj mixes. 

In 2009, he focused his efforts on music production and a live show. He adopting "Gold Code" as his moniker and debuted a well-received live set at the celebrated “As You Like It” parties. Remixes soon followed for Nude Photo Music and SubSensory labels culminating with his debut release, "The Day After" with remixes by Audioelectronic, Basskittens, Chris Fierenze, and Jonah Sharp.

2015 brought a move back to Southern California and a radio show, OMAKASE. Currently airing every Sunday from 6-8 pm [Pacific] on 88.9, KUCI Irvine, and streaming online at www.kuci.org, OMAKASE showcases the art of mixing past, present, and future classics.

Brisbane (Australia) based collective - connecting people through polyrhythms and parties. 

Our focus is on facilitating and creating an inspiring platform, through our events and mix series, allowing artists and listeners to explore, discover and cultivate their musical disposition.
