Meditation 1

I extended this piece from the original version found on the CD "Patience, my boy". I tried to lengthen it by presenting it to Marci Geller but for some reason our collaboration never got off the ground. The title derives from a line John Travolta says in the movie "Phenomenon".

Relaxing and thoughtful music to slow down your pace in life to experience the wonders around you.  Think about it... how often do you lift your head up and look above you?  Most of the time, I'm looking down at my piano keyboard, my computer, my feet, my phone and while cleaning, eating and reading.  At best, I look ahead while driving, shopping, watching TV, walking and maybe now and then I look up.  But when I do, it's not for long.  I'm usually  checking the sky for weather or trying to swat a fly!  Think about all the wondrous, magical and beautiful things we are missing by not looking up!

Culture Caravan (12/22/24)

John Tabacco is an American composer, singer songwriter, producer, recording engineer, multi instrumentalist and graphic artist. He has engineered /mixed and mastered music for hundreds of New York recording artists as well as projects released on BMG: The Kemelions, RCA: Faze, Rampage/Rhino: Rhett Forrester, Columbia: Rebbie Jackson, Rykodisc : Bob Marley, Columbia: Chris Jasper, Electra: Sonia Dada and Nickleodeon’s Are You Afraid Of The Dark? He is the CEO of It Iz What It Iz Music Publishing which currently holds over 600 songs in its catalog. He has been an associate producer for IndiMusic TV and hosts a bi-weekly radio program (CLAM RADIO) on college radio WUSB.fm since 1999.

His musical background consists of extensive study of orchestration with noted 20th century composer John Lessard, harmony with the late electronic music maverick Bulent Arel, and composition with Stony Brook University professor Peter Winkler. He received his BA in Music from Stony Brook University in 1983. 

Like an unfolding musical diary / puzzle, Tabacco’s music and art are constantly being re-worked, juxtaposed and intertwined. His style is a melding of pop - jazz -rock - avant garde / aleatory, classical and comedy.  He has been recording his music non stop since 1979.

Of note: In 1989 the satirical, absurd house song "Go House Yourself" co-written by Tabacco, Pati and DiMauro reached position 39 on Billboard's dance chart. 

In 2014 Tabacco signed a record deal with Texas, indie label, Muffin Records. They released his CD “Unfulfilled Shopping Carts Syndrome” internationally.

Cevin Soling is an American writer, filmmaker, philosopher, musician, music producer, and artist. Cevin Soling writes articles and books in addition to producing documentaries, animations, short films, and feature films that engage in social critique.

I have a broad taste in music but tend to lean towards cinematic and pop with a hint of edm at times. 

I like to create music that spans my tastes and gives me a ‘feeling’ when I listen to it. I create music for my pleasure and hope that others like it and it can maybe inspire them in some way.

I am based in the UK

We are now entering the holiday season and soon a new year!  It has been a very difficult year for me personally.  But musically, I believe I am writing some of my best music.  I am inspired everyday by all of you who have followed and supported me on SoundCloud.  I have found many wonderful friends from every part of the world!

I believe what the world needs is more songs about love for all living things and the earthly treasures around us. The power of love is magical, mysterious, and miraculous!  And, it is essential to our survival like water and the air we breathe.  I believe that through the universal language of music, love can heal, bring joy, and create an invisible chain that pulls all of us together, not apart.  I vow to write only songs about love in 2024.  Will you join me?

A Little About Me...
I compose music on the piano. My inspiration comes from my dreams and my life experiences and is strongly influenced by my years of classical training. I am starting to get to know the Soundcloud community and never thought anyone would listen.  I love every genre of music, and the talent and creativity are mind-blowing! I started composing later in life after many years of teaching.  Music, for me, must capture the imagination and emotions. When I play or listen, I want to feel something that brings joy or meaning in the moment. I am very grateful to all my listeners and the gift of music in my life!

For those of you who follow me on Soundcloud, I have been experimenting with adding tracks to my piano compositions.  I create and record everything using a Yamaha 660DGX, including the instrumental tracks built in to the keyboard, then I edit on my laptop using Sony Sound Forge Music Pro.  It's a simple set up, and I have lots to learn.  Thank you for listening and helping me in my musical journey!
