The first time I met UPFUSION was during my latest trip to the mountains of the Himalayas, when after my llama had been eaten by a yeti I stumbled through a snowstorm in desperate need of rescue and savety, which I finally found when entering a crystal cave where luckily at that very moment a guy played strange scales and melodies on his electric guitar to an enthusiastic crowd of penguins.

Yeah. And that`s how it began…

Fusion: A Collaboration Between UPFUSION and Viennese Cinnamon

The first time I encountered Viennese Cinnamon was during one of my most memorable jam sessions. I had set up a temporary studio in a crystal cave deep in the Himalayas, far away from the usual distractions. As I was experimenting with some offbeat scales and melodies on my electric guitar, I noticed an unusual audience forming—penguins, of all creatures, seemed to be grooving to the sound.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get more surreal, a figure emerged from the blizzard outside. The man looked like he had been through a lot, and as he stumbled in, the penguins parted to let him through. After catching his breath, he introduced himself as Viennese Cinnamon. With a story as wild as mine, we instantly hit it off.

One week later, after many cups of tea and coffee, and several mind-bending improvisations later, we're proud to present to you our first track together: Fusion.

This track is a true blend of our styles, capturing the energy of our spontaneous meeting and the unique vibes of that crystal cave.

"Extinction" explores the darker, more profound aspects of life through its minor harmonies, creating a sense of depth and mystery. It's a track that delves into the idea of disappearance and transformation, reflecting the complex nature of existence.

Extinction

Convergence is a nuanced exploration of urban life, unfolding at a deliberate, unhurried pace. This track seamlessly fuses the relaxed rhythms of instrumental hip hop with sophisticated keyboards and evocative guitar solos, evoking the dynamic spirit of a city that never sleeps. Throughout the composition, the organic process of clustering emerges - individuals gathering, ideas intersecting, and energies aligning - set against an ambient backdrop of city sounds, from distant car horns to the subtle hum of the streets. The result is a rich sonic tapestry that vividly captures the vibrant, harmonious complexity of metropolitan existence.

Convergence

Evolution is an experimental jazz fusion composition. With smoky rhodes keys, deep double bass, and a sax that vibes with guitar solos, this track flows through mixolydian, japanese, and dominant phrygian scales. It’s all about that natural evolution - merging, adapting, and connecting everything into one smooth, endless groove.

Ontogeny is an evocative piece from the album LIFE, weaving the complex and vibrant threads of jazz fusion into a story of survival, freedom, and growth. At its core, a driving bebop double bass sets a fierce, rhythmic foundation, symbolizing the unyielding pulse of life. Over it, fast, intricate guitar solos rise and fall, their fluidity representing the unpredictable twists of evolution, pushing boundaries as they soar beyond the familiar. As the composition reaches its apogee, a lush string section enters, embodying unity and resilience, underscoring the universal fight to preserve life and its endless potential to evolve - not just on Earth, but across the universe.

Life, the seventh composition on the album LIFE, is a delicious jazz piece. It features soulful rhodes and organ melodies, with layers of vibraphones weaving through the background, creating a rich tapestry of sound. This composition celebrates the beauty and abundance of life, conveying its fruitful nature with dynamic rhythms and harmonious interplay, radiating warmth and positivity throughout.

Water is a charming smooth jazz composition that flows with the essence of Earth's natural harmony. The track features warm, soothing rhodes, an enveloping saxophone that glides effortlessly through the melody, and a sonorous, clicky organ adding depth and texture. Through its fluid, gentle transitions, Water evokes the subtle transformations of our planet, mirroring the serene yet powerful forces that shape the Earth and its waters. The artwork complements this vision, depicting the Earth with its life-giving waters, symbolizing balance, growth, and unity in nature.

A bright and uplifting tune, inspired by Apollo, the god of music and the sun. Apollo's Radiance

Hypnos' Prelude, named after the Greek god of sleep, explores the mysterious D Locrian mode. Inspired by the ancient Locrians, this track highlights the scale's tense and unstable qualities, creating a sound that feels both timeless and contemporary.

Through improvisation on Guitar and Seaboard, it evokes a sense of mystery and reflection. The piece captures the melancholy and unresolved nature of the Locrian mode, blending elements of ancient culture with modern music.

The myth of Persephone and Demeter was central to the Eleusinian Mysteries, secret religious rites held in ancient Greece that celebrated themes of life, death, and the afterlife. Persephone's journey between realms represented the hope for rebirth and renewal, both in nature and in the human spirit.

This myth is a timeless allegory of change, resilience, and the profound connection between humanity and nature.

Aphrodite's Allure, the goddess of love and beauty, embodies the irresistible charm and grace that captivates gods and mortals alike. This piece evokes the delicate harmony of a blossoming garden, where every petal and breeze carries the essence of divine enchantment.

The Titan of time, Cronus, once a sovereign of the cosmos, meets his inevitable downfall in this evocative piece. Uranus' Sky, named after the Greek primordial god of the sky, captures the vast and enigmatic essence of the heavens. This track delves into the vibrant and evocative B Phrygian Dominant scale, celebrated for its exotic and mysterious qualities, crafting a soundscape that feels both celestial and grounded.

Through improvisation on Seaboard and electric guitar, it conveys a profound sense of awe and cosmic wonder. The piece reflects the boundless and mysterious nature of Uranus, seamlessly blending the grandeur of mythology with modern musical expression.

Uranus' Sky

Poseidon Ocean, inspired by the Greek God, delves into the enigmatic and intense D Super Locrian mode. Known for its sharp dissonances and unconventional intervals, this mode brings an edge of unpredictability and profound depth to the composition, mirroring the raw and untamed power of the ocean.

Built through improvisation, the track combines turbulent rhythms with swirling melodic lines, evoking the surging waves and endless depths of the ocean. The interplay between the instruments creates a soundscape that is both vast and intimate, capturing the duality of the ocean’s tranquil surface and its chaotic undercurrents.

Poseidon Ocean

Dedicated to acoustic alchemy, tonal surrealism, and musical dramaturgy for over two decades, I create compositions where complexity and emotional depth intertwine. My approach is fully experimental, rooted entirely in improvisation yet fitting within predetermined harmonies.

My music is recognised for its expressive guitar playing, intricately woven into a vibrant tapestry of live drums, double bass, keyboards, organ, and harp, all performed on the Seaboard with MPE. In my studio, I bring tracks to life in Logic Pro, carefully engineering each sound to balance sonic clarity with emotional storytelling.

My work stems from the conviction that creative ideas, when thoughtfully cultivated, illuminate paths to truth and deeper understanding of life. My musical explorations reflect both personal discoveries and a collective aspiration toward goodness, spiritual and cultural enrichment of humanity throughout its millennia-long history.
