Progressive Techno 100% vinyl mix using #mastersounds Radius MKII rotary mixer and FX unit by me #DJAlexSimms 

It is fair to say that progressive melodic techno is where I am in my happy place…. and this mix is a total reflection of that.

The mix starts upbeat but deep as always, with some melodic vocals on Timanti & Just her’s ‘other side’ before it dips off the edge into a classic deep techno mix from some of the greats like Soul button and Patrice Baumel before a teasing vocal track to lift the mix with Joplyn’s fact and fiction. All classic stuff. 

Then it's back in deep with some excellent tracks from Kasey Taylor and Jamie Stevens and YokoO to make your head nod and feet shuffle before dropping the classic which is Trentmollers ‘Moan'. 

Act three starts with some progressive breaks from Khen before straight into more deep ethereal techno tracks taking the mix towards its conclusion with the excellent Sahar Z and Shai T’s beautiful vocal track ‘Colours’ to finish.

Side note…..
I recently purchased Master Sounds Radius 2 rotary mixer and quickly followed that up with their FX unit which I have used to create some unique sounds on the mix that I think give it more atmosphere, and a sense of space. I am still very much learning both machines / instruments and I hope you like the mix as much as I have enjoyed vinyl hunting, compiling and mixing.

For those that are interested in the rotary and FX unit I have only used effect 1, with the timing set to 1/1. Between that effect and the low pass filter and high pass filter along with adjusting the resonance I think this adds, rather than overcomes. But I am still learning how to use it and experimenting all the time.

Release thirty-seven follows up the recently released Nostalgia del Presente EP from Argentinian producer Polo with a formidable remix package. Two versions of Nostalgia del Presente are on offer, from progressive house heavyweights Danny Howells and Jim Rivers, two producers with decades of experience under their belts. Each has crafted a unique reworking that pushes the track in a new direction, with darker shades and late night edge. On the deeper end of the spectrum, YokoO and Edmonson offer housier interpretations of Ultramar, both with playful grooves and a healthy helping of shuffle.

PREMIERE: YokoO - Acid Funk [HP003]

This mix is a testament to my versatility, exploring different shades of house music (and some breaks) while keeping the energy and flow in check.

The first hour is a live recording from a gig in my home city, Lahore. The energy from that night inspired me to expand the mix beyond a 3-hour journey featuring incredible music from friends, inspirations, and myself. It's a dive into expression of deep feels and sonic textures.

The biggest compliment came from chief YokoO, who called it a "nice journey and a great showcase of SATYA music." That means a lot.

To conclude this musical narrative, I chose an older remix of Glass Animals—a song that served as my gateway into the world of deep house. Playing it here is both an homage to my younger self who dared to dream and a celebration of ten transformative years immersed in the magic of music.

A studio-head in the true sense of the word, YokoO’s last 20 years have seen him master house music in all its deepest forms. With a prolific and impressive discography, YokoO has made his mark on noteworthy labels to date with original releases and a back-catalogue of strong remixes.

He’s turned the heads of many a label boss from Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Matthew Dekay, Lee Burridge, and MANDY, as well as racked up plays from a broad spectrum of industry reference artists. YokoO’s music has proven time and time again it can reach the record bags of the DJing elite on every continent.

His most notable projects Pachamama and Euneirophrenia anticipated the evolution behind the January ’21 release of his EP Jivanmuktih on Crosstown Rebels’ offshoot Rebellion. 2021 marked for YokoO the rebirth into a significant new chapter of his career as a producer, with a matured musical intuition charged with seductive blends of eclectic, deep, minimal, and hypnotic house grooves.

Like a mantra vibrating beat by beat, his music abides only to his deepest meditative intuition and revolves around the creation of unbound free-flowing states of creativity, echoing in stillness a deep connection to nature where every subtle detail counts for rich artistic expression and depth.

“I am committed to the Truth.” With these words, YokoO explains how he draws inspiration from his Yoga practice and the Yamas as he channels his creative energy into his label SATYA, a project that signifies the maturing into a state of unbridled surrender to the craft. With SATYA, he intends to support and represent artists who embrace creativity as a non-compromising act devoid of any expectation.

His constant evolution as a human being plays hand in hand with the authenticity of his creative process, committed to releasing unpredictable sounds that never fail to communicate, connect, and move.
