Jesta & Park Shadow - Zesty Mordant

Myah Asha Jeffers uses photography, printmaking, sound, and textiles to explore the sonic and visual frequencies of hope, whilst highlighting the complexity of the diasporic experience. Myah has been artist in residence at Knowle West Media Centre across the Spring of 2024.

This audio was Edited and Sound Designed by Rowan Bishop. 

This work is a sonic tapestry of quiet reflections – exploring the realities of migration, what it means to make a new home miles away from your own; and hopes for the future.
 
Made by members of the Knowle West community and facilitated by KWMC Artist in Residence - Myah Asha Jeffers, these works are a product of a series of workshops inviting participants to reflect on their own sense of self within the context of Knowle West and the homes they have left behind.

These artworks offer blueprints of possible futures, as well as past lives once lived; exploring and reimagining notions of home and belonging through the lens of migration.

Solive Raye is the sound of solitude given form, quiet thoughts turned into raw, melodic truths. An engineer and lifelong observer, Solive Raye writes for those who feel alone in crowded rooms, where silence speaks louder than words.


Blending dark, atmospheric tones with flickers of hope, his music lives in the in-between: not quite despair, not quite light, but something honest.


Raised in movement, from football fields to refereeing lines, he now wanders more internal landscapes, shaping every lyric with the precision of an outsider looking in.


Solive Raye doesn’t shout. He resonates.

American composer born in 1989, known for his diverse musical works that span both concert compositions and film scoring. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania in 2012 and a Master of Music from Western Michigan University in 2015. Walasavage’s music is particularly noted for its rich textural qualities that explore various elements of motion and form. His compositions have been described as creating sonic textures that can suspend in time, transform into cacophony, breakdown to silence, or express movement and fluidity.

Knowle West Media Centre (KWMC) is an arts organisation and charity based in Bristol. Our activities include: after-school groups for young people exploring media and technology, a diverse programme of events and workshops, and regular making courses at our digital manufacturing space KWMC: The Factory.
