Amör leans forward to present us with volume 18 of the mix series. Taking a similar approach to Fundamentals and volume 15, Amör sprinkles in a few of his homegrown bits amongst a soothing selection of late 90's old friends. Crashing the party with equally impressive vibes are some modern derivatives from arcologies, Rhythm Tek, and Sardo. This mix is a perfect nod to the universality of a timeless sound, unburdened by geopolitical limits.

Music to take you off to the outer reaches... Crisp studio mix from label owner PHD and MC DRS circa 1999. Perfect combination of deep atmospheric ambience and melodies, tough beats, rolling basslines and DRS's lyrical stylings driving the vibe forwards...
PHD had a cache of wicked tunes (some still sadly unreleased) that never quite had the same exposure as the rest of the GLR camp but stood tall in their own right. Some exceptional music makers feature on this mix as well as appearing across the Ascendant Grooves release catalogue. One of those mixes that has never dated and still gets regularly aired. Ransak joins our mix expedition to present Volume 20. Ransak has been a dedicated jungle and drum & bass DJ since 1994, known for his passion for deep breaks, atmospheric sounds, and the darker edges of the genre. As a resident DJ at Vibration Centre in Pasadena, CA, Ransak holds court every second Sunday of the month, delivering captivating vinyl sets that highlight his signature atmospheric and deep break selections. Big respect to the crew: Jaes, Flowah, Kaustin, and J Rolla.

Volume 20 is a deep and introspective journey, sourcing modern descendants of Blue Note/Platinum Breakz era Metalheadz, and Good Looking Records styles. The two Source Direct classics featured here help drive that point home. They slide in seamlessly next to tracks from modern day greats such as Nebula, ASC, and Kloke.

Space Date

All Digital mix of his early tunes. From his first one on Cert 18 up to the end of his initial run of heavily breaks based tunes around 1996. His beats went more tech and sparse in 97 but this selection is peak Think, Amens, bongos and Apaches coupled with trademark dubwise basslines. Real Kemistry & Storm tunes. His production back then was pretty loose and experimental and it all adds to the ragged dubbed out flavour running side by side with the crunchy pads, strings and atmospherics. Proper deep journey tunes showcasing the studio time with Photek and Spirit that was likely going on at that time... Only got through half the tracks I had pulled out in 90mins so this is prob Round One.

All Digital / Natural Mystic Mix - Early Years 93-96 - PART 1

Part 2 of the early Digital releases - all remaining tunes not featured in the first mix. Not much more to say in addition to my thoughts on the first session, just wicked, epic, deep atmospheric jungle produced only as Digital knows how. Surgical beat work, incredible spacey pads and subsea B-lines. 
Enjoyed putting these two mixes together - definitely helped me appreciate a few of the B sides and loose experimental tunes a whole lot more after all these years (Lost and Mystery etc.). Some of these tunes went a bit over my impatient young head when I bought them so it's nice to have them aired out in full for repeated listening and appreciation :)
