The Cycle 2 of Mass Distortion was headlined by a special guest - Phara in Bangalore, India. I had the pleasure to warm up for Phara followed by his incredible live set which blew everyone's mind. Here's the live recording from the night. Hope you like it :)

POSSESSED AND OSSIFIED

Kerri Chandler joins forces with Nae (SA) for new single ‘Caged Bird’, accompanied by remixes from the widely beloved Atjazz, and Moplen.
Leading the release is the ‘Full Vocal Media Mix’ of ‘Caged Bird’, which sees Kerri Chandler lay down emotive piano melodies, organic drums and atmospheric strings alongside soulful vocal stylings from South Africa’s Nae.
Up next is the first ‘Atjazz Remix’ of ‘Caged Bird’, a nine minute cinematic excursion from the British composer, embracing the soulful fragments of the original and twisting them into a slow burning, subtly evolving nine minutes delicately detailed with sweeping echoes, reversed reverberations, crisp percussion and choppy stab sequences. An ‘Atjazz Remix Instrumental’ follows, as the name would suggest stripping away the vocals.
Last but not least to complete the package, Bergamo, Italy’s Moplen, producer for the likes of G.A.M.M. and Lumberjacks In Hell delivers his twist on ‘Caged Bird’, shifting gears into more classic house realms, infusing drifting keys, weighty low end tones and heavily swung drums and violin melodies with the original’s smooth house aesthetic.

[Intro – Spoken gently, over soft oud and ambient flute]

You asked for something sweet tonight.  
No riddles.  
No shadows.  
Just warmth…  
So I give you this.

[Verse 1 – Sung, delicate and dreamy]

Your breath is quiet, the air is low,  
My fingers trace the notes I know.  
A song you like, not sharp, not wild—  
Just soft enough to make you smile.

[Spoken Interlude – lighthearted but aware]

You say I’m honey.  
But even honey comes from hives.

Chaz creates evocative techno sounds thumbing with a rebellious drive. Hypnotic repetitions are essential substances for his production as well as performance. He combines the spirit of the genre with enigmatic production techniques. 

His music sits comfortably at the crossroads where galvanised textures collide with undulating rhythms, as a tribute to his strongest inspiration coming from techno artists and labels of the nordic world. Chaz is defying convention and forging his own path through the revered underground current. Approaching his soundscapes with the care of a scrupulous artisan, adding pensive electricity through interesting details — a methodology that has accrued him constant praise from distinguished artistic figures. 

The man behind the project, Akshay shares his time between being a music programmer, booker, and an artist. He represents a new generation of artists who not only avoid over-elaboration and unnecessary attachments, but also live on an energetic aura that knows about the past while spreading its tentacles in the present.
