Just a track I put together tonight around an interesting arpeggio from the Roland SH-32. All sequenced on the MP-7 including the filter sweeps.

Mellow Arp

This is a piece about how regret can haunt you.
I sequenced it using the EM-U MP-7 Command Station. I also used that instrument to provide the drums and the bassline. The atmospheric sound at the beginning is provided by the Yamaha TG33 vector synth. The lush chords during the chorus come from patch C21 on the Roland SH-32. The abstract background "bell warble" during the verse comes from the Roland D-50. And the lead line that follows the chorus and precedes the verse is the Odyssee Lead patch from the Alesis Ion. I sequenced the mod wheel during that track to provide a filter sweep on the sound.

Recorder entirely on an E-MU XL-7 Command Station. The use of all 16 tracks/channels are present as well as some automation. By combining 3 different bass sounds in the same key, I was able to create a very powerful rhythm section. The song would have sounded muffled and muddy without the use of the cymbals. They exemplify the mid range of the bass while also cutting clear through the mix, giving room the drums and various lead instruments. The whole song consists of a 1 bar loop.

Ancients

In this track, I'm aiming for a Robin S. "Show me Love" type of vibe. The main lead are bells that I filtered and EQ'd to my liking. The rest of the track are various presets that can be found on the Xrom (E-MU Rom SIMM standard in all XL-7 stations). Nothing too special here, but it goes to show that you can make full songs just be using these machines alone. They can cover ANY genre too!

Lounge Room Service

This track features a synth riff created using Balma's "One note hold" procedure. Besides that, Its a well rounded dance track! It really shows off the possibilities of sonic creation when you use this machine (XL-7) with its ROM SIMM. Right out of the box, I could have easily made this track, with proper knowledge that is.
