This set was recorded live in Kona, on the Big Island of Hawai‘i, during an ecstatic dance gathering surrounded by lava rock, sunrise light, and the pulse of community.

Tribal, primal, ceremonial — igniting movement through organic beats, deep rhythms, and ancient voices.

This is a journey of sweat, release, remembering.

Inspired by artists like Mose, Poranguí, Deya Dova, Kaya Project, Sam Garrett, and The Hanuman Project, this mix invites you to move from your root to your crown — in devotion, in freedom, in fire.

Ecstatic Dance Set - Born from Fire (Big Island, Kona, May 2025)

I was honoured to host my first Dance Wave event in my hometown of Melbourne, Australia for the Winter Solstice, and guide participants through a Solstice ceremony with intention-setting, a dance journey to bring light to the darker parts of ourselves, into a sound bath to integrate before the closing circle. This is the live recording of the dance journey, complete with live-looping of yidaki/didjeridoo, vocals, and percussion.

This experience was truly humbling – the response and feedback incredible and a potent co-creation in aligning with the cycles of our world to release, heal and express authentically. I am filled with purpose and meaning and feel inspired to continue to evolve these offerings for community connection and celebration. This 2-hour set was crafted as a ceremonial arc to honour the turning of the seasons — from stillness and reflection into fire, movement, and joy. Grounded by intention and uplifted by rhythm, it guides dancers through:

🌿 Embodiment warm-up & partnered play
🔥 Two fiery peaks of dance floor release
💧 Deep reset, catharsis, and reconnection
🌌 A gentle descent into stillness

Genres range from organic house, tribal bass, psytrance, downtempo, DnB, and ambient — woven to support a whole-body journey. This one features artists like East Forest, BLOND:ISH, Kalya Scintilla, VOLO, The Polish Ambassador, and Phutureprimitive.

🌀 Recorded live as a continuous mix — best enjoyed on a good sound system, in bare feet, with space to move.

SOO MUCH YESSSS!!! Thank you for such an alive, connected and meaningful night for me! Nights like these are such a reminder of how lucky I am to have so many amazing friends and connections in my life. 

Prior to starting B.E.D I would teach a dance lab and DJ a dance almost every week for 2 years. When we started B.E.D, I gave that up to let what I was doing become something bigger. Every time I play, I realize how much I love and miss doing this. I feel very inspired in finding ways to be able to offer this more, while continuing to deepen and grow Boulder Ecstatic Dance. I hope to land something soon, but for now, lets keep breathing and moving life into the abundance of  special experiences we get to create together <3

Luminosity

Stoked to share my dance journey collab with Energy in Motion from their chakra series with this throat chakra exploration. We started off the experience with a potent vocal activation by Grace who primed the dancers before my journey. Weaving in many tracks featuring vocals, I also added a bunch of live vocal loops, encouraging dancers to co-create vocal soundscapes with me for one of the most interactive and high-vibe experiences so far. Gratitude to Patty and Sharna for holding down this epic container and all who helped raise the roof on this dance journey, and many thanks for the wonderful feedback I received after we landed back in the space. Elkemist is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, hybrid live DJ and facilitator who plays multi-genre sets rooted in mystical sounds and ethnic flavours. With a deep love of tribal bass blended with rising psychedelic energy, his sets are curated to take audiences on a sacred journey of sonic alchemy, supported by live looping with yidaki/didjeridoo, vocals, flute and percussion.

Elkemist has contributed tribal bass sets and ecstatic dance workshops to festivals around Canada and Australia including Shambhala (CAN), Wicked Woods (CAN), Dragon Dreaming (AUS), Chrysalis (CAN), Elevate (CAN), Tribe Ascension (AUS), The Magic Garden (AUS) and Kootenay Yoga Festival (CAN). Beyond festival sets, Elkemist also facilitated a weekly ecstatic dance in Nelson, BC (Canada) called Dance Wave, as well as co-hosted regular community ceremonial gatherings, and ran a bi-weekly men’s circle.

Whether it’s a rising tribal bass journey, sacred gathering, ecstatic dance or sunrise festival set, expect a voyage across space and time, inspired by sounds from around the world to encourage dancers to move beyond the perceived limits of their bodies and minds.
