Floyd Lavine's Seattle debut at Deck'd Out 7-3-25 was a blast! We were lucky enough to have him join us for an encore performance at Diffusion the next night. If you've been to Diffusion before you know how good it sounds in that little basement on those Danleys. It's really how this music is made to sound so I'm always grateful to be given the opportunity to play on it. The party went from 11p-6a. I played direct support opening from 11p-1a. Although I was winging it from start to finish, I did go into this set with a game plan. While utilizing 3 decks I would focus on minimal and melodic techno (mostly) and continuously loop tribal/percussive beats on the 3rd deck throughout my set. My hope was to make it more dynamic of an experience. Most of those loops came from tropical house/tribal based tracks from around 2007-2009. As a result, I was pretty busy playing and improvising on the fly, but it was a lot of fun and fortunately got recorded (because there's no way I could replicate it later, lol). Given how all over the place I was with the samples/loops throughout the 2 hour set, creating a track listing is tough. Please feel free to reach out about particular tracks and I'll figure it out. We pretty much started when we were kids, but we were really crap haha.. but we have been getting better and better so we thought why not just upload our music on the internet! We do all our recording in a little room in a shed which we call "The Dog Box".

Over the years the lineup has changed, at this stage M.U.S is a solo project that does collabs from time to time.

Its actually really hard to describe the soundscape of the music because it vary's so much.

The first three albums we recorded, (two of which are ancient made when we were just young lads :p), sound like murder haha.. But the stuff that's being uploaded now is recent, which should be a big YAY! For you cause you won't die from bleeding out your ears :)

Influences vary a lot too, some of my influences include: Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Clapton, Devin Townsend, Metallica, Tool, Joe Bonamassa, plus a whole bunch more!

There's probably a million chaps better out there but meh, I still love to make music, mistakes and all.

Recess has been in a long term love affair with Seattle’s underground music scene for the past couple of decades. In the late 80′s he found his second home at the long defunct Club Underground in Seattle’s University District (along with DJ Dominator aka Donald Glaude, DJ Dan and many others). During the 90s he bounced between raves, rock shows and jazz clubs appreciating the passion and community behind the scenes. Using these early experiences as a platform, he started collecting records and honing his skills at various clubs around the Northwest; quickly establishing himself as a formidable performer. 

In 2003 he founded Shameless Productions (responsible for numerous legendary underground club nights, parties and shenanigans). Along with a changing cast of players, over the years, Shameless established itself as a trust worthy brand by throwing some of the most memorable events the Seattle's undergound dance music community. From day one, each Shameless party was a special one regardless of the wide ranges of genres and bookings represented. With an eye towards the cutting edge, but deep respect for electronic music's rich history, Shameless has kept it's finger on the pulse of Seattle's underground for close to 20 years. 

In 2006 Recess was nominated as one of Seattle Weekly's best local DJs. His DJ sets often reflect Shameless' aesthetic by focusing on forward thinking music while cherishing the gems of the past. He'll span the various sub genres of house/disco music, and also weave through techno, electro, breaks depending upon the party. His range, passion and deep understanding of the dancefloor has made him a longtime favorite underground club DJ in Seattle and the greater Northwest. Whether it’s an afterhours loft space, major club, mountaintop, or random BASSment; Recess has consistently brought the sounds and energy to fit any dance party.
