Lawmakers have placed an Equal Rights Amendment on the ballot this November. While an upstate judge recently blocked the measure on procedural grounds, most legal observers expect that decision to be overturned. The measure states that “No person shall, because of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability creed, or religion, or sex, including sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, pregnancy outcomes, and reproductive healthcare and autonomy, be subjected to any discrimination in their civil rights.” Melanie Trimble of the NY Civil Liberties Union will discuss the proposal on Wednesday, May 22, at 7:00 at the Bethlehem Public Library, 451 Delaware Ave., Delmar. She talked to Mark Dunlea of the Hudson Mohawk Magazine.

This is the complete 1st movement of the Symphony. Like the other movements it's also its own tone-poem.

Adagio, ~14 minutes 

In this movement we hear waves hitting the coast line and ebb/flood on sand- and rockbeaches. With them we hear crickets, seagulls, birds at a stream, a village fountain and shimmering seas.

This is the entire 2nd movement, performed by those waves and a Symphony Orchestra.

Zarabanda, ~12  minutes

This is more of a duet perhaps, the symphony orchestra with humpback whales. And water sounds from the humpbacks' habitat.

Right from the first time I heard it, to me those whales singing sounded like unearthly, soulful music. Sung in an unknown language. That's also how the entire adventure of composing this Symphony started, making an orchestra to accompany their singing.

The last two movements of the Symphony for the Waters are... 

4th movement, Andante, "Frog Meditation"

5th movement, Caccia, "Thus Spake Hippopotamus"

16 1/2 minutes 

In these two movements the symphony orchestra is accompanying frogs and hippo's, with porpoise and other marine flora and fauna also assisting. The two movements flow attacca one into the other, without pause.

Today marks a historic moment for Thailand as same-sex unions become legal, sparking celebrations nationwide. Over a thousand LGBTQ couples are tying the knot, symbolizing love and equality.

One of the grandest events is unfolding in central Bangkok at a luxury mall, where more than 100 couples are exchanging vows in a mass wedding. The celebration features vibrant performances, a pride-themed carpet, and festivities running until evening. Across the country, districts are hosting extravagant parties and gifting cupcakes, bags, and even free plane tickets to honor this milestone.

Thailand, long considered a haven for LGBTQ individuals, now joins Taiwan and Nepal as an outlier in Asia for recognizing same-sex unions. The new law grants couples rights to manage assets, inherit, adopt, and make medical decisions for their partners.

However, activists stress that more progress is needed. Many Thai laws remain non-inclusive, and LGBTQ youths still face bullying due to a conservative education system. While today is a victory, the fight for full equality and freedom continues.

129 years ago, in 1896, the Kentucky Equal Rights Association published a pamphlet outlining its progress and the challenges faced in gaining women’s equality in education and the cultural, legal, and political spheres. 

 They successfully secured laws allowing women could keep her wages and real estate, attend colleges, and serve on the boards for Houses of Reform for Juvenile Defenders. 

The pamphlet also reflected on their struggles with other legislation. They did not mourn the challenges but used them as inspiration for the path to full equality. They appealed to women and men and proclaimed, “we shall not abate our efforts until the women of Kentucky possess the ballot...”

104 years ago, in April 1921, the first all-female jury in the state was assembled in Owensboro. White women gained the legal right to vote nationally in 1920 with the passing of the 19th amendment. In the same year, white women were granted the opportunity to serve on juries.
  
While women were slowly gaining legal equality across the country, milestones of legal representation began to happen in Kentucky. Captured in a photograph, our collection features all of the women in the this first-of-its-kind event, including the flowers they gave to the judge.

Intro:) Lady ElectroTrek is an artist of varying fields... who doesn't feel like she can be crammed into one genre. She creates where she feels the spirit of the moment takes her.../' Lady ElectroTrek has done live choir performances, even had an experience with TV group performance. ElectroTrek has been on radio, different stations--won an award out of Chicago, & received a radio artist plaque for her efforts. ElectroTrek has won group trophy for best in regional singing. ElectroTrek was asked to be a select member of 8 singers called: "The Pantherettes" as a freshman.
ElectroTrek grew up knowing she had a desire to sing, but never anticipated that she would one day take part in a burgeoning exploration of creativity within the instrumental field.
Electrotrek first learned how to play the flute recorder, while attending a private school & studying under a German teacher. Arthur was her teacher, & later saved her life from freezing to death in the snow, when her stepfather 'conveniently' forgot to pick her up & left her there while he was in another town away from where she was going to school & she was left outside until past 8:00 o'clock at night as a middle school child. No cell phones back then, & no money was given her for in case of emergency. The fact that she has survived many abusive encounters, is indeed a miracle in itself.
ElectroTrek has taken flute classes with a popular YouTube teacher from Utah. She has a Sterling flute imported from Australia.
ElectroTrek studied some guitar underneath an aunt of hers who was a Music Major & a music shop owner. Although she never bought instruments from that aunt's shop, due to her relocating over 1500 miles away.
ElectroTrek took piano lessons with a German piano teacher who was very strict to the point that he would hit her hands with a solid wood ruler that had a metal edge & left her hands stinging. Told her that her homework from school was not as important as the piano & demand her to cut her nails off, though they were only moderately grown out. She later switched to a teacher by the last name of Miller, but that proved to only bore & be drawn out to the point of ridiculousness, & only seemed as if paying for lessons but not allowed to progress became evident of being taken advantage of. She then found solace & understanding under her stepfather's brother's wife's teaching.
From there she began to gather tidbits from reaching out to several high-end Professionals & has expanded on trying many new things.
Her life is a story of working against constant odds & mistreatment & she can hold her head with dignity. She has earned her right to be treated as an equal & not cut in half & projected upon by predatory narcissists. Assertiveness is her right to maintaining her boundaries.
ElectroTrek has been involved in many things outside of music as an altruistic activist & rights advocate...& signed many petitions to prevent cruelty & abuse.
An Indian photographer once nominated Lady ElectroTrek for a Nobel Peace Prize on a public forum for her voluntary commitment & diligent work to protect underage models against human trafficking.

⁂About love: It is utter nonsense to leave the generalization that if you give love, you get love in return. It is simply NOT true... When I look at abused children who have been entrapped within the confines of circumstances, all the love in the world doesn't STOP the abuser from seeing things in a perspective that will harness his faults he fails to identify.
