••• So this weeks experiment is actually exactly one year + 4 days old. Recorded on the modular at my school, just a few weeks before the lockdown in Denmark started. 
This is my first, and to be honest, only time i have used a modular on my own. Remember the experience as having a lot of mixed feelings. Didn't have a clue what i was doing and easily got very confused, but when i suddenly got something out of it that sounded just a bit nice, i almost jumped up from the chair out of excitement 😂
Anyway, i got sucked into this magical modular world for about 5 hours, loosing track of time completely!

A heavy, multilayered drone tuned to 60 Hz. Made with modular synth (mostly Make Noise Shared System, with Mutable Rings and 4ms SMR) and pedals (WMD Geiger Counter, 4ms Noise Swash). This was created as a single live take with no overdubs. I will probably update this description soon with details of the patch and signal path.

The result was convolved with IRs recorded at the Pool of the Black Sun at the Manitoba Legislative in Winnipeg, CA. The IR's were created by Edouard Morin-Fournier who kindly made them available via Hainbach (see https://www.patreon.com/posts/impulse-of-pool-28297187). I did the convolution using my csound-convolver tool, available from https://github.com/DaveSeidel/music-tools/tree/master/csound-convolver.

Update: there's now a video version of this piece, a live recording of a different performance than the one here. AYO’s sound is taking you on a journey into a world of dreamy soundscapes, drone subs, small creaky details, long evolving pads and slow beats. Through scandinavian forests, white mountains and northern lights into a world where we communicate and connect without words.  By sampling sitars-violins-cellos, modulating FM synths, incorporating field recordings and playing around with raw data and noise, AYO attempts to create a timeless bubble of calm atmospheric sounds, that gently yet persistently makes ones mind and body drift towards a fundamental earthly connection.

AYO is the solo project of Julie Schønherr Rosengreen. Julie has been playing the violin as a kid both playing classical and a bit of folk music, but also composing her own and playing around with different combinations of melodies. As she grew older she began appreciating electronic music and later on started composing her own tunes.

- Not long after she startet producing, she got her first festival gig in Denmark and have since then been active in the Danish chill scene, playing at festivals like Senpati, Sensun, Shiva Spirit and multiple events. Abroad she has played in countries like Nepal, Morocco, Germany, Spain, Lithuania etc. This includes festivals such as Freqs of Nature, Transition festival and Gaia gathering. Currently she is studying for her bachelor in Sound Art at the Danish National Academy of Music. But earlier she has also been doing electronic music and VJ courses at Frontsession in Aarhus and Engelsholm College for Arts and Music.
