‘DYR’ is a beautiful, delicate, unhurried gem of a track, dripping in sensuality. Shimmering percussion and delayed claps lay a foundation atop sorrowful sustained organ-esque pads. Subtle bass throbs sorrowfully in tandem with the yearning, melancholic chord progression. Deft stabs and flutters of heavenly melody flicker across the stereo field, while sweet electronic piano motifs tug at the heart strings. Deceptively powerful, this is a truly glorious moment in time, topped off by emotive vocal samples used sparingly but potently.
‘Purple Brain’ is an entirely different but equally delightful kettle of proverbial fish. Tumbling soul breakbeats echo tightly while dubby keys and vocal cuts tickle the surface of the track. Jazzy organ thrusts punctuate the groove as bass rumbles deep beneath. Reminiscent of classic late nineties / early naughties downtempo grooves a la Kid Loco, Aim et al, it’s a light and dreamy piece of work that hypnotises you into a state of willing submission.

Budakid’s ‘Milestones’ gets the remix treatment from three very hot names, with very different results.

Korean hotshot Shubostar has featured on Resident Advisor’s mix series, played leading festivals like Burning Man and released on killer imprints like Robert Johnson, Permanent Vacation, Internasjnoal and her acclaimed Uju Records. Her colorful update on cosmic disco fits perfectly with the charms of Budakid’s style, with a bouncing off-beat bass line driving under heavily reverbed kicks and snares and a flurry of ascending arpeggios. The synths soar, the breakdown takes us into an epic space, and the remix develops beautifully over the course of its 8 minutes to keep you hooked throughout.

London duo Make A Dance are rapidly on the ascent, with a huge release on Classic Music Company and killer cuts on their M.A.D. Records imprint as well as sets at the likes of fabric and Club Silencio. Their rework goes deeper, building through gated snips of the vocal, pulsing pads, Latin snare patterns and subtle bleep riffs and delays to reach a heady, hypnotic place. The ethereal breakdown full of tripped out tape delays and great use of airy vocal harmonies are the icing on the cake, making their remix feel like the original as experienced in a joyous dream. Oh, and prolific guys that they are, they’ve also included a ‘Deep Acid’ mix which... I think you can figure it out?

Rising Dutch talent Milio (Atomnation and formerly one part of Tunnelvisions) rounds off the package by stripping things back to a deep, tripped-out pulse, modulating twanging acid belches in conversation with an off-beat bass bounce. The vocal is used in super-dreamy fashion—particularly in the breakdown—and slick production on that acid line and clever automation keeps it engaging despite this remix’s pared-back approach.

For Exploited Club, Alex Medina rolls out 'Ayy Paapi'; a truly singular soundclash that bumps like House and glistens like an Italo whilst also exuding the moxie of Reggaeton. 

Being Spanish born, Medina sought to incorporate his mother tongue into his music. He was motivated by 'the excitement of flirting with some Reggaeton vibes and bringing them to the next level of modern electronic music'. 

Speaking about the specific inspiration behind the vocals, he says 'Ayy Paapi was born on a family holiday with my little daughter Gala calling me papi, papi papi all the time..so I decided to use Spanish Reggaeton vocals to represent my mood as a father‘.

The title track kicks things off; melodies sway through bitter-sweet cycles while a reverberated signal roars out with a gripping power. Sequences, fx and the vocal refrain continue to build an esoteric braid that's guaranteed to linger in the mind long after the parties over. 

'Rompe Disco' follows up with a playful, percussive Breaks / Electro tool. Saw blades slice through a deep-set bass line while more Spanish vocals flower. A striking breakdown lances in and shatters the track with head bending results before accurate breaks lock back in and carry synth-lines and robotic vocals to the end. 

'Espacio Amor' dials in a big room vibe as more mournful chords glide over a straight 4/4 groove. LFOs have synths flashing in expressive strokes before a series of breakdowns form launch pads for bold, arresting drops that are certain send ripples across the floor.

Long-standing Exploited artist Joyce Muniz returns to the label with a killer new track, featuring vocals from Circus Company talent, Aquarius Heaven. Continuing the brooding feel of her recent output, it looks set to do big things.

Aquarius Heaven’s warped vocals make for the perfect accompaniment to Joyce’s electro-infused techno production, where jagged synth arpeggios rub up against her sharp and snappy percussion and bass hovers menacingly below. It’s got a big room feel thanks to its rasping reverbs and dramatic vibes, with moments of real intensity as the synths swell and the percussion becomes more insistent. A powerful yet spacious production, it punches hard in all the right places. 

A remix comes from upcoming LA techno producer, Shaded, who recently enjoyed support on John Digweed’s Transitions radio show. Powered by undulating waves of sub bass, it builds up from a minimal patchwork of bleep tones and intricate percussion to incorporate the dizzying synth work of the original and the bugged-out vocals. It keeps a low profile, inducing hypnosis via its consistent, insistent slow-burning energy, making it one for the more heads-down dancefloors.

Joyce recently released on DJ Hell’s International DeeJay Gigolo Records and Culprit, and produced British pop star Little Boots’ new single Shadows. She will also release a very special remix of a Paul Simon track via Sony Music later this year.

Netherlands based duo T.U.R.F. continue a fine run of form with their forthcoming release 'Reggie Fox' on Exploited Records,  Lorenzo and Tom are diggers first and foremost with a heavy Disco influence running through the veins of each production.

With the 'Reggie Fox' EP, T.U.R.F. selected the key elements they love most from Disco and sprinkled their own touch over the release. Both tracks turned out to be two pumping bass driven adventures, that essentially carry out the same message as the Disco music they love: "Just dance and have a good time".

The metaphor of life as a journey is deeply embedded in most cultures. But it’s
particularly apt for Joyce Muniz. Born in Brazil, she moved to Vienna in her teens and now
splits her time between there, where she has her studio and a show on national radio station
FM4, and Berlin. She started her career as a DJ and MC at Vienna’s Flex club, then found
fame as a vocalist, touring alongside Major Lazer, before dedicating herself to
production, supported by labels such as Exploited, Get Physical, Kompakt, Permanent
Vacation, International DJ Gigolo and Pets. Most recently, she took her music on theroad,
performing live with different orchestras across Germany as part of the Synth
Live project, the first woman to join them. All this is alongside continual DJing,
recently touring Australia to tick off playing every continent – bar the
less-than-club-friendly Antarctica.
In 2023, her second album ‘Zeitkapsel’, German for time capsule, retraced many of the steps
she’s taken, while also launching her Joyce Muniz Music imprint. ‘Never Brushing
The Sound’, featuring British MC Le3 bLACK. echoed the trip-hop and downtempo
that surrounded her in late ‘90s Vienna. The d&b of ‘Bangalore Girl’, supported by DJ
Marky, recalled the music she first MCed over. And ‘Imagine’, fronted by iconic
vocalist Roland Clark, reflected the deep love of house that inspired her to make
music. The biggest hit, however, was ‘Arrivederci Bella’. A jacking love letter to
electro house, but also a break-up track, it featured Muniz rapping in Portuguese, the
first time she’d used her own voice since her baile-funk-inspired outings in the mid
2000s.
The album’s cover, part surrealist painting, part visionary experience, reflects an
accompanying spiritual path. Diagnosed with cancer in her early 30s, Joyce returned
to Brazil and her experiences with plant medicines reconnected her to her
grandfather’s shamanism. This rebirth reconfigured her attitude to creativity and life.
When Covid hit she explored the breadth of her music making – resulting in
‘Zeitkapsel’ - and sharpened the technical skills that make her a go-to workshop host
for Native Instruments. She also completed a Bachelor's Degree in radio presenting.
These avenues mean Joyce can roam where she chooses. Remixing Chicks On
Speed and collaborating with the UK’s Detachments, she’s re-exploring the electro
roots that brought her to the attention of DJ Hell many years ago, now a mentor. But
with the on-going support of Âme, Dixon, Claptone and Green Velvet and more, as
well as thousands of Shazams each week, she continues to explore sounds,
collaborating with artists across the world.
Last year, Joyce Muniz released the infectious single ’No Haters’ on Permanent Vacation
with fellow Brazilian Producer Renato Cohen. This was followed by the huge ‘Beats & Lines’,
with Sara Bluma on Kompakt (Joyce Muniz’s debut Kompakt release), which spent several
weeks at No.1 in Beatport’s Indie Dance Chart and was supported internationally by many
major DJs.
Joyce Muniz will release the Afro electro single ‘Mo Dupe' on Exploited in April 2025. She
will return to Kompakt in June 2025.
Alongside weekly gigs in Europe and frequent visits to America, Joyce often returns
to play Brazil. This was rewarded with the cover feature of her proud nation's
Mixmag. Winning new fans each visit to her birth country of over 200 million, there’sno doubt
she has plenty more road to travel.

A decade into shaping careers of artists like Claptone, Adana Twins, Joyce Muniz and Budakid, he continues to remain on the pulse of the global underground shaping dance music through his label, productions and unconventional, uncompromising and unpredictable sets.
