We couldn’t resist to release this soulful boogie disco house joint GOLDEN GIRLS from Tigerskin & Jack Jenson featuring vocals from south african rising star Lazarusman.

The both producers about their session: „We were looking  for inspiration by listening to various bassline stems freshly recorded the week before. And we checked the secret studio archive which includes the recordings of almost 30 years of Tigerskins work. Looking for hidden treasures in hundreds of recordings we stumbled across a simple and unreleased drum arrangement.

Just for fun we added one of our basslines to it and recorded a bunch of melodies with some of the old Moogs. You know you're working on 'one of those songs' when each member delivers exactly the ingredient that the others were thinking of when working on their part. When Lazarusman sent the vocals and as we listened the first time to the demo version of what would become ‚Golden Girls' we both looked at each other and agreed that this might be our best work so far.“

Marcus Meinhardt’s track “Hibiskuss” brings pulsating and warm tropical layers together, seducing its listener into total indulgence. The tribal percussions set the tone, shaking and grooving throughout the track and thus providing a framework for the beautiful melody. Having a light melancholic touch to it, which is underlined by the vocal elements, there is still a positive vibe radiating off the track. Through the build up it feels like you are taken on a journey following new, enchanting soundscapes, culminating in a twirl of bliss in the break. Don’t sit around and wait, have a cup of Dr. Meinhardt’s highly recommended “Hibiskuss” tea.

The mystical sounds of the masked man known as AIWASKA has found much acclaim with his glorious ‘Medicine’ release on Exploited Ghetto. Fans of the track emerged far and wide. Eelke Kleiijn creates a more urgent feel than that of the original. He takes everything that’s great about ‘Medicine’ and gives it just the right amount of boost to create a more intense dancefloor moment. The chugging, arpeggiated bass groove still drives the track, but in a more relentless fashion. The track builds through slow-burning modulation, with a driving percussion success that features off-kilter snare hits and chunky tom thumps. As the track reaches its climax, a dizzying array of sirens, rising FX and white noise tones elevate it into an explosive flurry of sound, sending shivers up the spine. It’s quite spectacular.
The secretive AIWASKA project has been receiving big support from the Burning Man community, and Damian Lazarus recently released one of his tracks through his scene-leading Crosstown Rebels imprint. There’s much more to come from this masked man. Kleijn also has his links to Burning Man, having composed the track ‘1,000 Lights’ as part of a 670 drone art piece at Burning Man 2018 in memory of festival founder, Larry Harvey.

Sandhog (with an upcoming release on Blue Shadow Rec) lands on Exploited Ghetto with an excellent EP that truly stands out from the crowd and which was already supported by Chaim heavily. 

‘Endless Dimension’ is a quirky, mystical track driven by a rubbery, bouncing bassline, springy hi-hats and a plump kick. The rest is left to a heady mixture of squelchy synths, Eastern flute sounds, the resonant twangs of a mouth harp and peaceful birdsong. Rolling bongo rhythms and gentle snare rolls add flavour at the right moments, while the synth modulation adds to the track’s living, breathing feel.

AIKON provides a deeper, chunkier remix, taking an almost early 1990s progressive house feel. The atmospheric feels are dialled up, and a hypnotic drive is created. Filtered electric guitar chords add another psychedelic touch, and the mouth harp is looped to brilliant effect to create an evolving pulse that undulates through the track. The reverb on the flutes also adds a lot to their mysterious feel, putting you in the mind of a wild jungle trek.

‘Penang’, named after the Malaysian state, shows Sandhog in a more dancefloor-focused stride. A snappy rhythm and monotone bass pulses underpin fizzing synth blasts. Bluesy guitar licks interplay with proto-trance synth sweeps to make for an unusual melange. Electric guitar plucks add to the swinging groove, trippy vocals add another layer of energy and the whole affair is a refreshingly different and colourful experience. It’s a unique sound indeed.

With previous gems for Exploited Ghetto including ‘Hibiskuss’ and ‘Masada’, Berlin’s Marcus Meinhardt became an integral part of the label family. His melodic techno style always finds the balance between groove and melody, and he can usually be found behind the decks in any of his hometown’s favoured tech-centric dancing establishments. ‘El Paso’ is his latest weapon: a sleek, no-nonsense dancefloor cut which gets the job done very nicely indeed.
This track is alive from the very first note, throbbing and pulsating hypnotically with a tribal rhythm and thick chunks of bass accentuating the percussive groove. The trademark Meinhardt synth magic swells and teases, rising like a giant wave to help introduce new parts of the track. When the claps finally drop in, the impact is felt heavily, and the track keeps building as layer upon layer of mesmerising synth energy is added. The tension increases as we drop back to a kick and bass groove, those dazzling melodic elements teasing and disorienting vocal delays plunging is further into the deep abyss. From near silence, the track rebuilds itself like a sleeping beast waking from slumber, propelling us back to that meaty groove.
It’s what you might call a ‘mood track’: one that never explodes ostentatiously, but instead provides you with a slice of drama to use as a powerful building block within a greater narrative.
