This extraordinary album contains the results of five years' worth of research into new musical instruments and interfaces. Titled Meta Gesture Music: Embodied Interaction, New Instruments And Sonic Immersion, the anthology features musicians who crossed paths during Meta Gesture Music, a research project which ran between 2012–17 at London’s Goldsmiths College in order to explore new tools and techniques for experimental music making, from live computer coding to using bike lights and solar panels as instruments. 

The compilation contains new tracks by Goldsmiths professor of media computing Atau Tanaka, both solo and in duet with composer/pianist Sarah Nicolls, as well as Tom Richards performing on his Mini-Oramics set up, Kaffe Matthews making music with sharks in the sea, xname amplifying electromagnetic fields, Laetitia Sonami performing on her patented Spring Spyre, plus Leafcutter John, Renick Bell & Steph Horak, Dane Law, and Ewa Justka.

NX Records is a record label, radio station and interdisciplinary workspace housed in the Department of Music at Goldsmiths, University of London.

The label was founded as a collaboration between Goldsmiths and Matthew Herbert's ever-experimental Accidental Records. In May 2013, we launched with an introductory mixtape and live performances at the Southbank Centre.

The label has continued to grow, releasing critically acclaimed music by Goldsmiths students and graduates, whilst hosting numerous workshops, events, and running a pop up record shop in New Cross.

NX has been managed by London artist, DJ and writer Richard Greenan, since 2018. In 2024, Accidental stepped aside from their NX duties, and Richard's own record label and NTS Radio show, Kit Records, began running NX in collaboration with Goldsmiths. 

The label's mission statement is to create a new model for the music industry, connecting exciting talent from the renowned creative hub of Goldsmiths – and the wider community of South East London – with the forward-thinking and collaborative Kit Records.

Our aim is to build connections between emerging artists, education, the industry and audiences. NX is a professional label that works alongside, not in opposition with, DIY artists.

Amelia Brey's music has been described as possessing “haunting beauty” and a "deep, disquieting power” (National Sawdust Log). Her works have been performed by Ensemble Dal Niente, Ensemble Connect, and The Juilliard Orchestra, and commissioned by Project eGALitarian, Music City Trombones, HUP! Productions, Zenith Winds, and the Nebraska Chamber Music Institute. Hailing from Tallahassee, Florida, Brey is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and is currently a C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow at the Juilliard School.
