This lecture discusses key ideas from the sequence of letters between two great Medieval intellectuals, lovers, and religious Heloise D'Argenteuil and Peter Abelard

It focuses specifically on the first letter, which is by Abelard. It discusses the consolation Abelard attempts to provide his fried by recounting the story of his life, which includes his romantic, intellectual, and sexual involvement with Heloise, their marriage, his castration, and their taking religious vows and entering monastic life.

This lecture discusses key ideas from the sequence of letters between two great Medieval intellectuals, lovers, and religious Heloise D'Argenteuil and Peter Abelard

It focuses specifically on the second letter, which is by Heloise. It discusses the arguments that she advances in the letter, which center on her view that they can continue to enjoy their married relationship through writing letters to each other, even though after Abelard's castration both of them took religious vows and began monastic life.

Heloise and Abelard - Letter 2 - Married Love and Religious Life - Sadler's Lectures

This lecture discusses key ideas from the sequence of letters between two great Medieval intellectuals, lovers, and religious Heloise D'Argenteuil and Peter Abelard

It focuses specifically on the third letter, which is by Abelard. It discusses Heloise's proposal that although they have taken monastic vows, they can rightly enjoy some married life together through writing letters to each other, and Abelard's rejection of that suggestion. He tell her that they both must turn to God and make Christian perfection their goal, even if that means leaving their amorous relationship behind, and he tells her that by his own confessions, he intends to change her love into contempt or hatred for him.

This lecture discusses key ideas from the sequence of letters between two great Medieval intellectuals, lovers, and religious Heloise D'Argenteuil and Peter Abelard

It focuses specifically on the fourth letter, which is by Heloise. In this letter Heloise reaffirms her love for her husband Abelard, and asserts that life will have little value or attraction for her after he dies. She explains what emotions she experiences, and the despair she feels about their situation, and then discusses the conflicts within her heart and mind that stand in the way of genuine and consistent repentance on her part

This lecture discusses key ideas from the sequence of letters between two great Medieval intellectuals, lovers, and religious Heloise D'Argenteuil and Peter Abelard

It focuses specifically on the fifth and sixth letters, which are by Heloise and Abelard respectfully. In these letters both of the married lovers have opted for leaving their previous amorous and conjugal love behind and shifting their attention to God. They also both admit their ongoing struggles to see this commitment through consistently.

We examine how medieval scholars battled over the meanings of ancient Greek and Roman philosophy and of the Christian religion, while illiterate artisans made breakthroughs in architecture, engineering, metallurgy, and alchemy.  The vast body of medieval scholarship came under attack during the Renaissance as so many "metaphysical obscurities," while today we stand on the precipice of a true Dark Age of ignorance.

Back then or: those colors! The little plastic organ. The big surprise is that it has scratches from No Wave and residue from post-gaffa. Héloïse represents this punk derivative without worn-out guitars, perhaps sounds like it was back in 1983 - but not as if nothing had happened for forty years. The Zurich musician Sabina Leone is behind this trick, her name is Héloïse. Héloïse sits at her drums and sews percussive patterns with scraps of fabric from the off. Send me a techrider, but that can't explain the magic. Sabina Leone doesn't have to explain anything either: On the move since 1993, thirty years of everything happening and always one music in her head - in Italian with Sorelle Leone, in crossover and spoilage with Wemean, back when still called a women's band. Now all Héloïse!

A key figure in the French melodic techno scene, Joachim Pastor began his career as part of the Hungry Music label alongside NTO and Worakls. He quickly earned recognition as a distinctive electronic music producer ; his sound is both orchestral and cinematic in its harmonies, sharp and precise in its melodies.
In 2020, he signed with the leading electronic label Armada Music and released his debut album Greater Message. He followed up the next year with multiple singles and remixes, including Season and its reinterpretations, and scored the documentary The Final Season, about world rally champion Sébastien Ogier. In 2023, he unveiled Adrenogate, a festival-ready four-track EP, followed by Blank Page, a more introspective piece.

In 2025, Joachim enters a new artistic chapter, diving into a digital quest shaped by artificial intelligence. His aim: to push its limits and fuse with it creatively ; not to replace emotion, but to enhance it. He unveils Phantomgrid in early 2025, followed by Take Away the Pain and Field of Snakes, which hint at a more ambitious project: a new album - PHANTOMGRID.
