Label boss Jason Peters returns with a new EP on his own imprint, Roam Recordings. In this latest offering titled In the Dark, JP collaborates with Alona of 40 Thieves fame, crafting a fun yet moody dark disco experience.

The EP kicks off with the title track 'In the Dark,' a dancefloor-ready anthem with arpeggiated basslines and energetic melodies underpinning Alona's sultry voice.

Accompanying the original is a remix from the talented Vhyce, who pushes 'In the Dark' into an even darker realm, layering in classic drum machine beats and intense, serious vibes.

The EP also features an instrumental version of 'In the Dark' for those who crave the pure essence of the track.

Rounding out the release is 'The Way You Are,' a hypnotic, driving tune that pulses with energy.

Jason Peters, the visionary behind Roam Recordings, returns with his latest EP, 'It's Ok to Be Sad.' This release is a dynamic journey through emotional soundscapes, blending high-energy beats with introspective undertones.

Opening the EP, 'Satellites' is an homage to Jason's formative years in the underground rave scene of the 90s. The track captures the raw, pulsating energy of warehouse parties with its heavy hitting drums underpinning wild electronic noises.

BIO
Jason Peters is a DJ/Producer and the label boss of Roam Recordings. Over the last decade he and his label’s output have been at the forefront of the indie dance/dark disco movement. While his music centers around 80s italo, 90s rave, and contemporary indie dance and dark disco, you will also hear rare disco, psychedelic techno, and early house.

Jason Peters is also a long time staple of the San Francisco dance music community where he plays regularly for some of SF’s more discerning clubs and promoters such as Sunset Sound System, Monarch, The Great Northern, and F8. On Jason Peters’ travels outside of the Bay Area he has played events such as SundaySunday, CRSSD festival, Block 9 at Glastonbury, Red Light Radio, Kater Blau, and the Alfresco festival.

Ransom Note puts it best: “Just like Jason's own productions, which also appear on the label, the music is dark and hypnotic, cosmic and driving - sounds that'll take you down a wormhole. There are a lot of labels and artists treading similar terrain these days, but Jason was spearheading this new wave of exciting and unique dance music a long time ago."

Indie Dance The Mix Series  Jason Peters

Recorded from the 1-year anniversary party of Rogue Planet on 5 . 14 . 25, brought to us by Trinity Radio. This is my opening set, followed by Digital Kitkat, a favorite in San Diego and San Francisco and everywhere in between. I'll stand by in case they want to share their track list, but in the mean, I'll leave mine from the first hour. Please check out their sound. It is just. . . on another level. I was sweating through my clothes. I was a mess.

I forgot how faders work on the intro to the Globiter Remix (don't ask), but other than that, I'm satisfied with it, since I didn't plan it out. I just packed the playlist and played with the tracks that were in complementary keys, and it led me in a cool direction. Not sure if I will ever play Energy Flash on an opening set again, but it turned out to be a good call this time. Maybe if I play another Techno night and they want me to charge out of the gate?

Thank you to local superstar DJs Cheshirine and Vaughn Avakian, too, who turned me out, and proper, when Digital Kitkat left me for dead on the dance floor.

As the son of a professional flamenco singer, Thomas has always been surrounded by music.  Exposure to flamenco influenced him because it has a dynamic range of emotions—from the "deep singing" style of cante hondo, to the more lively alegrias.  He has also worked in the corporate, independent, and online music industry for a number of years.  At one point he was a Content Manager for the Electronic Music genre at MP3.com, where he screened over 500 songs per day.  Exposure to a wide range of music explains the range of genres in his mixes—he uses whatever carries the mood.  From listening to Umm Kulthum's "Enta Omri" in his childhood, to New Wave and  Industrial as a teen, it became difficult for him to stick to one sound. Though vinyl was his original format of choice when he started in the 90s, the use of digital mixing has helped him better form soundscapes to expand your headspace.  Let him play with your moods for a spell.
