Zolkraft 247 Drivin Melodic Prog House MiX

Sneaking in just under the wire with this mix, I present to you for the month of May, a collection of tracks that are dark, moody and deeply moving. This is indeed an introspective mix designed for zoning out. It features an entirely new genre for me: deep trance. I have also included some hypnotic trance and some deeper progressive house tunes. Rolling in at 124 bpm it is definitely on the mellow side. Artists range from both new and familiar and I'm very excited to see what the overall reception of this mix will be, so sit back and relax as you embark upon a journey that takes you into the darkness and brings you into the light, this is Sound Tapestries episode 001. The track Largo was one of the first releases I discovered by Markus Schulz in collaboration with Elevation back in 2005. It was released the previous year on Electronic Elements and re-released in 2007 on Armada Music. 

Coming full circle 20yrs later after being away from writing for some years, here is my remix of Largo. Hope you enjoy! Download is enabled!

Progressive / Techno / Trance

Born and raised in the small rural town of Wilmar in southeastern Arkansas, US. With no local music scene, his only exposer to music at a very young age was through attending church but also digging into his mother and brother's vinyl and cassette collections listening to hip-hop, r&b, blues, soul and motown artists. In his elementary years he joined his school choir and learning the basics of piano and reading sheet music. Later, at 12yrs. old he joined his high school concert band learning to compose and write and playing alto saxaphone and later added tenor and baritone sax to the list. This opened his exposure to classical music. In addition, he later developed a taste for percussion; learning snare and eventually full drum set. Having been exposed early on to rock and metal music, this led him to being recruited as drummer for local a progressive metal band. Having been introduced to computers while enrolled in a technology course, he stumbled across music production software. Realizing he could use this as a creative medium musically in a way he had never imagined, he quickly learned this software, mimicing hip-hop beats and eventually creating his own. Unsatisfied with the sounds, he wanted more. A close friend then introduced him to electronic music artists such as Paul Oakenfold, Timo Maas, Nick Warren, John Digweed and more. This was a sound unlike anything he had ever heard. He studied these producers sounds and quickly started producing his own tracks and uploading them to forums online. After several years of crafting his sound he gathered the attention of the likes of world renowned DJs such as Paul Oakenfold, Markus Schulz, Solar Stone, M.I.K.E. and John 00 Fleming to name a few, with releases on labels such as Saturate Audio, In Sessions and an assorment of labels under the Proton Music label catalog.
