A tribute Jam to the creme de la creme of my favourite artists: Nine Inch Nails takes off immediately at the intro with an instrumental version of "Ruiner," Maltese heavy-weight Sound Synthesis AKA Acid Synthesis features under both aliases; with the ballsy intergalactic breakbeat/electro of "Riding on the Cosmos"  which rumbles in over the sublime acid waveforms of  "Expansion 303" - by the same Maltese artist.  Those two tracks in particular give the jam an aspect of the intergalactic and of the otherworldly beauty which could have only been conjured from outer-space .  The piece by Kuldaboli is a superb electro-techno stomper.  I also drop numbers by Carl Finlow and Gaetano Parisio as weapons, beat-juggling between duplicate copies of each , before closing off with "Drome" and "Electric", two absolute classics by Joey Beltram...

The Orbit (Techno Set)

I really liked this one.  I very much remember having way too much fun listening to this on one occasion.  It was too easy to forget that I was just listening to myself simply because I made this into a Carl Cox tribute.  I started doing these loose tributes a lot more just so I could trick myself into thinking I'm actually listening to the target DJ.

Speaking of Carl Cox.  I'm really disappointed with his new autobiography book.  One of the more interesting things about Carl to me is how he left the 'Ardkore scene and became much more successful.  I really wanted to hear the details on how the dubplate scene ruined 'Ardkore / Jungle.  Carl is so into pleasing everyone that it seems like he didn't want to ruffle feathers so to speak but that didn't make for an interesting read.

This is a shorter CDR friendly and more consise version of this mix.  The point of this mix was to use a track that was a deep cut unknown of mine since I taped it off the radio in 1992...  Digital Love Thing by MK.  I don't remember how I did it but I finally found it on Discogs.  I remember calling the radio station and they weren't sure what it was but they did think it was Mark Kinchen, MK.  They were right about that but finding it was a challenge since searching for MK's discography didn't show this track since it was under a different name.  When I got the record the flip side of Digital Love Thing had a hidden extra special surprise!  A DJ Phantasy style 1992 'Ardkore mix of the track!  Its not in this mix but I did use it eventually.  Its about as good as Pigbag "Sorted(DJ Phantasy Remix)" on the Black Diamond label.  I had no idea MK could do that, shame it didn't get played at Dreamscape 4.

While searching for Digital Love Thing, I found another HUGE MK classic which was yet another unknown that I forgot about, the MK mix of "Thing Going On" by Betty Boo....  That track!  OMG!  Shivers down the spine, its just so good!  Then I found an MK remix of a house tune made by a famous smooth jazz musician, Paul Hardcastle.  

MK is just about the best deep house musician of all time for me.  I'm not into new house music but his classics from 1992 are just incredible.  I just had to get these in a mix.

I also finally bought the amazing RuPaul "A Shade Shady", all the mixes of Jomanda "Got a Love For You", and the MK mix of a famous Bobby Brown tune.  The end of the mix goes right into UK 'Ardkore with amens and Altern-8 riffs, its a fun ride!!!

If you guys are feeling this I'll put up the long original version which starts with Bobby Brown "Don't be cruel", that bassline is pretty dope.

I just put up my Andre Walter tribute again for Halloween and so I have to put up my darkest 1991 set yet.  

This set was made up of the left overs from Summer Vibe vol.15 I think it was, the happy 1991 set.  This is the un-happy 1991 set.  This is the stuff that came directly out of the New Beat scene, at least sound wise.  There are some actual New Beat artists in here like Coil and Trance Trax.  Also there's a few New Beat labels in here that crossed over into this techno style like "House Records".

So here is yet another Limelight NYC tribute mix.  It seems I'm most into this sound in October-November as the tune selection is 
always dark and moody.  This is also partly inspired by hearing Kleez-one recently play Smart Systems (FSOL) "Tingler" as I had 
forgotten about owning that record.  When I first got it, I listened to it all the time to the point that I was sick of it.  
Now I don't hear it so much anymore.

As for the title, I'm spoofing Manix "Never been to Belgium".  The point there was one doesn't have to go to Belgium to make that 
kind of music.  Same for me.  I've never been to the Limelight but through stories, and mixtapes, I feel like I have some connection
to the place and that I should have been there.  Now that Peter Gatian is back in the USA, I would hope he might try to open 
a Limelight revival type club in a state that has legal marijuana, I think that could be great.  I also hope to hear more Charley Casanova 
mixtapes for future inspiration.  I think that guy was quite great, it would be great if I knew his current email address to have 
some sort of discussion on the subject.

In 2017 I got an email that Scott Osman was throwing a "Maskarave" party somewhere in NYC.  I really wanted to go but the only person I know in NYC has now got a full family and its damn near impossible to even hang out with him let alone crash at his pad.

So needless to say I wasn't going to this Maskarave party.  This was a shame as Scott actually got some decent talent for this one.  Mainly Todd Terry whom I love but never saw him in person.  He was also going to have Simon from 2 Bad Mice and that would have been neat because I could have pestered him to release those unreleased dubplates and that version of Mass Confusion that only got this weird test press release.  Also he was going to have Joey Beltram again who I already saw at NASA 20yr.

So since I wasn't going I decided to have my OWN private Maskarave with tribute sets.

This 3rd set is the Joey Beltram tribute.  This one is completely based on the kind of set he played at NASA 20yr.  He would play mid 2000s hard techno, I guess almost shranz style, but then he would play the real classics that he penned himself such as "Energy Flash", "Mentasm" and I remember he played that Dave Clarke tune from 1994.  So I just emulated that here using what I have in my record collection.  It came out pretty damn good I think.

This DJ set is part 2 of 3.  Collect them all!!!

This set also marks the first in a series of entire night Rave Tributes that I made using both my physical record collection and pirated FLAK files from Lossless-Music.org  This site is a pain to download from but it offered a great way to make high quality mixes with records that I can't afford to buy.

This suite of sets is a tribute to a night at the Limelight.  This second set is a loose tribute to DJ Repeat.  I spent a few years trying to figure out what he was playing back then.  I never did find out!!!  Instead of worrying about what he played, I took a wild guess as to what seemed to work in the limelight back then, and made a sort of set that embodies that.  Really dark Belgian techno with lots of church / gothic influences.  This set is just a catch all of really bangin stuff in that genre.  I did manage to find two tracks made by DJ Repeat, a record I already owned, and a lovely pirated track found on lossless-music.org that he made, complete with amen breaks.  That's great but wait till you hear the track: Einstein Doctor Dee Jay & Michael D.J. Hammer "Aggressiva" !!!  That one made by jaw drop to the floor!  Holy hell what a tune!!!!

I was also inspired to do this kind of thing after watching the "Funktion-house" interviews with Keoki and Charly Casanova.  Funktion-house is a collective of dance music fans in Brooklyn that have very similar sound and lighting equipment as me, only they put this gear in a warehouse and rent it out for weddings and birthdays.  Pretty smart in my opinion!

Born in Brussels, Dan Walter starts in the mid 90's within the Hardcore-Gabber scene, an extraordinary skill experience behind the decks. Followed by dj residency in Belgium and events in Netherland. Early 2000, He wanted to make his own sound. A compromise between the energy of Hardcore and the groove of House music. Re-unite the influences, synthesize things to make something unique.
He got noticed first with remixes where his personal touch brought another dimension to vocal House tracks (Barbara Sheree )or Minimal tunes (Datensi)
Labels like Manzi Music, Crossworld Records, Plus Recordings and Audio Rehab London gave him chance to release his personal work. Multiple imprints for a multiple artist. Dan Walter isn’t easy to follow, because of his many shapes and work supports. A complete artist who is originally active in the fashion world as a hairdresser and photo artist.
continuing on this path, successive releases and hosting streamings mixes for the Crossworlder Broadcast, one of his favorite playground, where he can share the music he loves. No concessions, no boundaries, just music.

Dj since 1991. Vinyl enthusiast. Some would say a Trainspotter. Love techno, acid, rave, and house music. Father of 2 wonderful daughters.

Lao Chi (aka Lix Method) is first and foremost a bedroom turntablist, and a vinyl enthusiast and collector.  He is secondly an intimate-venue/crowd DJ.

Most proficient with 3-turntable setups and particularly fond of Digital Vinyl Systems (DVS) such as Traktor Scratch and Serato; he does not underestimate the prevalence of the CDJ and has learned to adapt.  

Lao Chi's ultimate goal is to keep perfecting his own personal take on the art of audio montage; by juxtaposing and mixing elements of several diverse records together, weaving them into intricate and extended sonic tapestries driven by dynamism and flow, and characterized by strong elements of structure which allow for the listener/dancer to experience a unique/unforgettable journey, ideally without having to sacrifice the subversive joys of transitioning between different genres and alternating energies and moods. 

He sees this creative (and recreative) process of consistent propulsion towards unattainable perfection as ongoing, evolutionary and never-ending, and as an end in itself.  

Lao Chi is also in love with hip-hop and has been, through the years, influenced by a variety of artists ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Aphex Twin, via Meat Beat Manifesto.

DJ Proton from Cologne is providing his interpretation of underground Techno to the scene for over 25 years already. He is not a Top Ten jukebox, but a man on a mission. His sets are hard, forward driving, but never predictable.  

Proton played numerous illegal raves at undisclosed off-locations throughout Europe, as well as Club gigs in Barcelona, Berlin, Belfast, Budapest, Helsinki, Krakow, Katowice, London, Rome and Vilnius. He is always curious for the vibes of a new crowd and eager to share an amazing time and lots of love together.

Mixing sounds from deep house, tech-house, electro pop, drum & bass and the odd random ska set. All tunes either spun on the favoured Technics 1210s plugged into Serato Scratch Live or more recently using Traktor Kontrol SL4 with Scratch Live.

James was heavily influenced by the UK and Canadian techno scenes in the late 1990's, which included frequent trips to The Orbit in Morley and the Megadog Templehead acid techno series in Leeds and London. The 90's was an epic blend of Detroit and German techno from Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Swen Vath, Adam Beyer with the odd number from Bukem, Size or Aphex Twin to mix it up.

From mid-2000, Jimbalin's scene rapidly progressed towards incorporating techno sounds and loops into the rise of breaks. Plump DJ's, Stanton Warriors and Marine Parade label paved the way for a new style of beat tech loops on the decks. The old classic from Drumcode or Surgeon had yet to budge :)

Influences today have matured into the clean sounds emulated from noise machines and pads. The Sydney techno and progressive house scene is driven by Deadmau5, Apparat, Max Cooper, Tensnake, Pig &amp; Dan and Hernan Cattaneo also barging there way into the favourites.

Started DJing at parties in the 1990's in London's free party scene and clubs (One Louder/Megatripolis/Analogue City/Carry On Regardless/Big Sexy Festy Party). In the 00's started experimenting with Electro and co-founded Synth Nymph with friends making the infamous Dove Bridge Studios our home in Shoreditch, playing alongside residents The Insurgents and guests including Simian Mobile Disco, Mylo, RadioSlave, Bones & Ramsey, Freelance Hellraiser ...
