What started as a lockdown project - to dig out my old AKAI disks from the golden 92/93 era in breakbeat / hardcore / jungletechno + all the samples I had been gathering since for future use developed into a bigger concept project…

To finish my old unfinished tracks and some new tracks in that 92/93 style - because I’ve been so busy making sounds for TV and Film in my day job - I never got to finish back in the early 90s and put them all together on a mixtape.

After spending the summer of 1990 in London and finding myself in Dungeons out past Hackney, I fell in love with the music and started taping the pirate radio stations which we didn't have back at home in Ireland. After returning to Dublin, between 91-93 we would get friends who lived in London to bring back DJ mixtapes from Camden Market and pirate radio recordings from Pulse FM and The Weekend Rush. 

These were our our lifeline to new music - Any new tapes would be copied and shared between likeminded friends. As I started DJing I used to mail order records from MusicPower, often playing clips from the pirate tapes down the phone as I didn’t have track IDs

Some of these tracks were built from samples and unfinished sketches I found on the old AKAI and ATARI disks, others were built from scratch - all using a mix of my old and new equipment.

This mix was inspired by the Pirate Radio Stations, DJs and Producers 
who pushed the music during this short golden era...

Jungle techno at its finest, "Sippin'" is hard not to love. Prizm, also known as Dj Skittles, is an accomplished DJ and emerging producer in the underground dance scene in the UK. He is highly recognized for his exceptional jungle and hardcore sets, although he is versatile and can play any genre. Prizm Aka Dj Skittles began his career in 2011 as a performer for Azma Sound System, FTP and Party Ard along with many other guest slots in various club and free party settings. He has since gained popularity and is now a regular performer at festivals such as Illusive Festival and Tear Out as well as playing for many event's up and down the UK and even France. Additionally, he has become a resident DJ for Submission Audio, Amen Warfare, and Karizma. As well as a prime time weekly slot on the Long standing Eruption Radio. Despite the challenges of 2020, Prizm utilized the quiet period to develop his production skills resulting in successful releases on Junglecat Records and Foot Long Records.
