The hope of the Kingdom promises full and refreshing restoration for Israel, with the Lord covenanting to gather his scattered people from the ends of the earth. He will lead them beside streams of water, guiding them on level paths where they will not stumble on their return. God will be Israel's father and Ephraim his firstborn, and will redeem and restore his people fully. The vision of his restored people culminates in a picture of their abundant joy, returning with rejoicing and divine blessing—young women dancing, young and old men celebrating together, and mourning turned to gladness and joy. God’s salvation will bring rich and lasting satisfaction to his people, who will return to their land with grace and lovingkindness.

In this talk we explore how this practice helps us to turn towards what is challenging with an intention of healing and opening our hearts and in doing this we reconnect with kindness and wisdom.

Peter Doobinin teaches the dharma - the Buddha's path of wisdom and compassion.   Peter is the author of the dharma books, Skillful Pleasure and The Skill of Living, and the novels, Daylight Saving Time, and Suburban Boy.  His writing has appeared in the anthology Commit to Sit; Tricycle; The New York Times, and other publications.   After working in the publishing industry for more than twenty years, Peter left in 1998 to pursue less worldly interests. These days he is the guiding teacher of New York Dharma.  He is founder of New York Insight Meditation Center, Downtown Meditation Community, and Berlin Dharma.  Through the years he’s taught at many venues, including the New York City public schools. He's also established The Dharma Student Project, which offers teaching online to advanced students.
In addition to teaching insight meditation, Peter Doobinin writes fiction.  He is the author of two novels: Suburban Boy and Daylight Saving Time.
