This song is from a poem my late husband wrote titled "Love or Lust". I think love should be the basis of lust.  Lust between a couple is just that "lust".  Does it have meaning? Does it really matter?

As an inspiration taken from an unreleased track "NEED" by Taylor Swift, this song was written as a meditation on how want, desire, and passion were being understood within me, shaped by the philosophers whose words once framed my own questions about love. It was felt that the imagery of smoke, echoes, and puppet-strings could carry the emotional weight I wasn’t able to say outright. The feelings were allowed to rise on their own, and the verses were guided into place as if the emotions themselves insisted on being named. Through it all, a quiet revelation was being formed around one person whose presence softened every harsh idea I once held.

As the second verse was shaped, a wilder kind of longing was being acknowledged—one that demanded to be freed rather than resisted. Nietzsche’s fire and force were allowed to seep into the lines, making the emotions feel lived rather than analyzed. It was believed that the arrival of the other person in the narrative created a transformation that couldn’t be denied, so the writing was led toward imagery of power, rebirth, and heat. A need was recognized not as weakness but as momentum, pushing the song forward without my direct permission.

The final verse was written while a sense of becoming was unfolding in real time. De Beauvoir’s ideas were woven in, allowing the song to be shaped around freedom, choice, and the rewriting of old scripts. It was felt that the connection described in the song could be a doorway rather than a confinement, and the lyrics were crafted to reflect a path shared without surrendering selfhood. The song’s closing lines were allowed to sit gently, expressing a need that was no longer chaotic or consuming—just a steady truth guiding me onward.

I’m Anbid Zaman — an artist and activist shaped by displacement, resistance, and the stubborn decision to live fully even when the world tries to make that impossible. I was born in Bangladesh and grew into my voice through grassroots queer organizing, where I learned early that courage isn’t something you perform. It’s a daily discipline.

My journey from danger to refuge changed me without erasing where I come from. I now live in Germany, working at the intersections of identity, migration, and liberation — supporting queer people facing violence while navigating the fragile, necessary work of chosen family, safety, and belonging. What guides me is simple and unnegotiable: justice without compromise, solidarity across borders, and the belief that marginalised voices deserve respect, not pity.

My music carries all of this. The sound is built from testimonial storytelling, emotional minimalism, and atmosphere shaped by memory — the quiet of hiding, the noise of protest, the ache of leaving, the strange brightness of surviving.
