‘The Dissent’ by Luke Slater & Dubfire opens up with hypnotic, droning sequences and bubbling atmospheres, looming synthlines firmly backed by relentless organic rhythm. In ‘The Sonic Assassin’ sizzling, skittering shaker-hat combos sneak up while its distorted signals increase in intensity, culminating into a high-intensity finish. ‘The Drama’ then features wonky vocals and gorgeous psychedelic soundscapes, closing out this quality, tripped-out package with dancefloor energy found both late at night and the early mornings.

After making his debut on Mote-Evolver via label boss Luke Slater’s ‘Rip The Cut’ remix package, SCI+TEC founder Dubfire now teams up with the fellow techno lynchpin for ‘The Dissent’ EP. Rolling and dubby, this collaborative three-tracker follows up Slater and Ø [Phase]’s recent Roog Unit release on the label and continues with boundless layers of interwoven, mind-warping techno sounds key to an imprint housing scene legends such as Rene Wise, Steve Rachmad, The Lady Machine and many more.

Dave Ellesmere began life in Southport, UK as a hardcore punk drummer in the venerable band Discharge, who have seen covers by none other than Metallica. Subsequently, he developed an affection for classic Detroit and Chicago styles of techno, and lists DJ performances at festivals like Awakenings, Welcome to the Future, Tomorrowland and Mysteryland. Dave is a producer that operates the outstanding Belief System record label and has two techno albums on Heiko Laux’s Kanzleramt, as well as releases on Sven Väth’s Cocoon and Radio Slave’s Rekids. In addition, he has also collaborated with 2000 and One on hit club tracks for 100% Pure, to having notable admirers such as Jeff Mills and DJ Rush. This exclusive mix is unsurprisingly a raunchy percussion workout with full-throttle, rolling grooves and interesting hook highlights brimming in energy. ✈ To celebrate this new episode, we are proud and delighted to host such an iconic figure from the Berlin Techno scene : MARCEL FENGLER (IMF, Ovum, Ostgut Ton, Mote-Evolver).

Marcel Fengler has been quoted as “one of the finest techno DJs” (Resident Advisor), earning international recognition for his “well-crafted body of production work” (FACT) and the unique, “multi-faceted personality” (Electronic Beats) he brings to his craft.

For almost three decades, Fengler has developed a versatile and dynamic DJing style, making him one of the first resident DJs at Berlin’s legendary Berghain / Panorama Bar in 2005. Known for his ability to shift pace, atmosphere, and energy in response to the dance floor, he seamlessly moves between industrial-drenched hardness, broken beats, gloomy dubs, and melodic grooves. His early releases on Ostgut Ton and Mote Evolver paved the way for his debut album, Fokus (2013), a statement of intent filled with emotional depth and unexpected contrasts.

In 2011, Fengler launched his imprint, Index Marcel Fengler (IMF), a label dedicated to his timeless techno vision while serving as a platform for emerging talent. This philosophy took on new dimensions in 2024 with the launch of ‚KISHIKAN’, an event series combining elements of his ‘IMF label showcases’, ‘Marcel Fengler Invites’ events and the newly established HARDPROOF VA project. With KISHIKAN, Fengler continues to push boundaries, creating a fresh space for artistic innovation and musical exploration.

For Marcel Fengler, techno is more than a genre - it is an unconditional passion and an essential part of his identity. Refusing to be confined to a linear sound, he constantly seeks new ways to tell stories through music, showcasing a bold and evolving vision that cements his place as one of today’s most exciting electronic artists.
