Finally did a real phonk remix and finally watched Ghost in the Shell (1995) in full. It was a good day.

8 Ball And MJG (Mailbox Spiders Remix)

No Communism

As the '80s gave way to the '90s, hair metal and glam rock were on their way out, setting the stage for alternative and grunge to take over the charts. That didn't stop the once-popular rock subgenre from going out with a bang in 1991 and 1992, with a pair of heartfelt downtempo ballads in the same key. Mr. Big's "To Be with You" and Saigon Kick's "Love Is on the Way" were just begging to be mashed up, don't you agree? (I added snippets of two Y2K-era rock hits, Smash Mouth's "All Star" and Uncle Kracker's "Follow Me", because they seemed to fit pretty well.)

This mashup is dedicated to the memory of Steve Harwell, the co-founder and original lead singer of Smash Mouth. He passed away less than a week after I completed this project.

Be ready for a new Remix of Mr. Big's 90s classic To Be With You. I really love the original, so I absolutely enjoyed working on this remix. During the creational process the Arpeggio-Lead melody instantly gave me Avicii vibes, and so the track's is of course a bit inspired by Avicii's sound. RIP to the king of modern dance music :-(.

You take a sip from your coffee cup, open your mailbox, and think, “What’s the worst that could happen, spiders?”.

You reach inside.

Nope, just junk mail and advertisements today.

Sigh. You remove those paper abominations from whence they came, you pull them close to your chest.

That’s when you notice the spider inside your mailbox.

You poke a stick inside the black void and hope the spider climbs on top.

You hope there are no baby spiders left in its web.

You’re in luck.

 You rush back inside, feeling a strange mixture of emotions.

You spend the next few years of your life hammering out song, after song, that mostly only close friends will listen to and enjoy.

You stare into the void, you suddenly realize you were the spider all along, and someone is trying to poke you with a stick.
