Back to the archives! This mix is a rare time capsule from April 2001 – originally burned onto maybe 25 or 50 CDs, handed out at our Groovalistic parties. After 24 years I’m glad the discs still survived, and now it’s finally online.

This set was recorded live from vinyl, strictly featuring UK productions only. Back then people called it nu skool breaks – heavy, deep, synthetic, funky, hypnotic beats around 130 BPM. The sound that rocked the floors then… and honestly, still does today.

On the mix you’ll find tracks by Hybrid, Slacker, Freq Nasty & Blim, DJ Hyper, Rennie Pilgirm & Meat Katie, Dark Globe, General Midi, Way Out West, Anthony Rother, Pressure Drop and more – pure UK breakbeat energy.

The labels behind this sound read like a who’s who of the scene: Skint, Botchit & Scarper, Marine Parade, Finger Lickin’, Passenger, Distinct’ive, Lot49, Whole9Yards, Fused & Bruised, Thursday Club Recordings (TCR), Wall of Sound, Supercharged, Fuel, Plastic Raygun, Functional, Fat! Records, King Kong, Kickin’, Against The Grain … all of them pushing the boundaries of breakbeat culture at the turn of the millennium.

The cover joke? In 2001 the UK was hit by the foot and mouth disease crisis – no meat exports allowed. So instead: Buy British Beat!

I'm a big fan of music generally, and also making connections with people through music. My collection has grown over the years and is still growing weekly! It contains a bit of everything, mostly influenced by breakbeat and drum and bass although more recently house and tech house. I was and still am a big fan of breaks, especially tracks from the likes of Freeland, Atomic Hooligan, Freq Nasty, Stanton Warriors, Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts etc but this list is definitely not exhaustive and I will listen to, and play anything within reason. Got to have an open mind! 

Things are a little quieter these days but I've spent many weekends lost in a field/club/house party somewhere!

Join me on Cutters Choice Radio for my Slam the Breaks on show to put a smile on your face! I play a good range of stuff and don’t focus on one particular style or genre. Peter Gadek to DJ i promotor z Tarnowa, z serca południowo-wschodniej Polski, dla którego muzyka elektroniczna to pasja od najmłodszych lat. Już w dzieciństwie fascynował się twórczością pionierów elektroniki, takich jak Jean-Michel Jarre czy Kraftwerk. Przełom nastąpił, gdy w domu rodzinnym zainstalowano antenę satelitarną — wtedy po raz pierwszy zetknął się z muzyką klubową i od razu się w niej zakochał.
Jego przygoda z DJ-owaniem rozpoczęła się w 2004 roku, kiedy kupił pierwsze gramofony i mikser, aby rozwijać swoje umiejętności. W wieku 18 lat uczestniczył w swojej pierwszej imprezie techno, która utwierdziła go w wyborze muzycznej drogi.
Kiedy lokalna scena klubowa w Tarnowie zaczęła zamierać, Peter postanowił kontynuować i rozwijać ją dalej. Choć Tarnów nie jest znany z klubowych wydarzeń,  unikalny klimat miasta stał się idealnym tłem dla rozwoju młodej, dynamicznej sceny elektronicznej.
W latach 2014–2016 pełnił funkcję bookera artystów i promotora w Klubokawiarni Percepcja, aktywnie wspierając lokalnych twórców i artystów. Od 2007 roku występował również poza rodzinnym regionem  m.in. w Krakowie, Radomiu, Katowicach, Bytomiu, Bielsku-Białej, Miasteczku Śląskim i Wrocławiu, dzieląc scenę z uznanymi DJ-ami i artystami live.
W latach 2018–2023 był integralną częścią wrocławskiego kolektywu Suicide Collective, wspierając jego działalność aż do zakończenia działalności grupy.
Obecnie Peter współpracuje z Klubem Piwnica Przepraszam przy ul. Krakowskiej 2, gdzie okazjonalnie organizuje wydarzenia pod markami "Tarnowska Scena Techno" i "Peter Gadek Invites". Każda impreza to wyjątkowe doświadczenie muzyczne, które przyciąga zarówno lokalnych fanów, jak i gości z dalszych regionów.

Michael began producing music in the late 90’s as the founder of the electronic group Sonic State. They released remixes for artists such as Limp Bizkit, Orgy and Godhead, and were propelled into the underground rave scene performing at multiple venues. With the continued success of Sonic State, Michael established the independent record label ADD Recordings and produced revolutionary tracks that were played on radio stations and in clubs around the world. 
Today his work as a solo artist can be heard in multiple video games, commercials, television shows and films.

Introducing Broken Chair, a dynamic force in the progressive breakbeat scene, known for crafting electrifying tracks that push musical boundaries. 

With a distinctive sound that is engaging and hypnotic, Broken Chair continues to innovate within the progressive / melodic breaks genre, establishing a unique presence in the industry. 

Formerly known as Dj Solrac, he has a long history of rocking dance floors, but now he’s found mostly crafting beats in the studio. With releases on Capital Heaven, Morphosis Records and Foxtrot Alpha Recordings, the future is looking bright… and Broken.

DJ G.I.D., a true pioneer of the electronic music scene in Koblenz / Germany, kicked off the very first Groovalistic Party in 1995, alongside his DJ buddies and friends, M-Pire and Oldcut. Throughout the '90s and '00s, they took over nearly every club in and around Koblenz, showcasing their distinctive blend of Electrofunk, BigBeat, Drum'n'Bass, Jungle, Breakbeat, Downbeat, and Dub. The Groovalistic Party soared in fame beyond the confines of Koblenz, often packing clubs to the brim, sometimes with crowds exceeding 1,000 people – sheer madness! This popularity allowed them to host renowned guests from Germany, Austria, and especially England, including DJs, live bands, and video artists. But the Groovalistic DJs Oldcut, G.I.D., and M-Pire didn't just stay local; they toured across Germany and neighboring countries.

Now at 56, G.I.D. remains a fervent vinyl enthusiast and passionate DJ. Once known for carrying hefty crates of records, he has since embraced digital DJing and amassed a vast collection of digital tracks. Always on the hunt for something new, he has continually broadened his musical tastes: from Downtempo to Global Bass, Electronic Worldbeats, and experimental Bass and Dubstep stuff, whether straightforward or playful – no two sets are ever the same. His sets are versatile, thrilling, and full of variety. We're all eager to see what musical journey he'll take us on next.
