Clearing- My 5th single release is finally here! 

Clearing is a soft somber, but also striking piece that has been my first ever full ensemble piece. As the bassoon and piccolo carry the melody, the brass and winds combat each other trying to hold onto the hope of seeing a new vision. The percussion, the mallets, the striking of the bass drums hint at an uncertain ending as a new light of sight begins to - clear.

The Pendulum

Deep within an attic amongst haphazard piles of forget-me-nots, a music box lay dormant. Its hundred-year slumber interrupted by a curious wandering fairy.

As it comes to life, its rusty gears crunch and snap, spouting soft plumes of dust. The curious fairy inhales the plumage and is transported to a colorful dimension, all while the box sings its forgotten song.

Here it is at last, the single from my forthcoming album Kitsune, which I plan to release in September. You can expect more wind and brass tracks as well as strings on the release of this album, as they have now become my favorite orchestral instruments, especially the clarinet and oboe! :D

Kitsune: Tavindel

This is the MIDI version of my work for tenor and orchestra, Letters from Elbert. The work sets to music letters written by my grandfather to his sister while he was in the U.S. Navy in World War II. They trace his journey from basic training up to a month before his discharge. The letters are at times humorous, at times poignant. They paint a vivid picture of his surroundings and his life in the Navy. I have only two memories of my grandfather from when I was a child, and I am grateful that through these letters I have gotten to know him better.

This work is dedicated to the memory of my grandfather, Lawrence Elbert Bahr, and to those in our family who have kept our family history alive: my great aunt Florence Maltby, my cousin Ed Coleman, and my late sister Julie Bahr-Kostelac.

【Symphony of Cherry Blizzard  ～Spring Music of Farewells and Beginnings～】

The cherry blossoms that color the spring in Japan have captured the hearts of many people with their beauty and fragility. The blooming of cherry blossoms heralds the arrival of spring, which is also the season of parting, and the cherry blossom snowstorm embodies the spirit of “wabi and sabi,” which is deeply engraved in the hearts of Japanese people. Amateur pianist and composer, studying and practicing for 7 years, member of BMI - Broadcast Music Inc.
All these compositions are made in my free time, mainly inspired by my favorite books, films and TV shows (My inspiration also comes from my favorite composers). I prefer to compose solo piano tracks, but cinematic orchestra is my second favorite genre of music and I have practiced a lot in that genre.

I began piano lessons at the age of 5 and started composing music in his late teens. I specializes in composing orchestral and pop-style acoustic instrumental music (BGM), which he uploads on YouTube as “Be moved to tears Piano Solo".

Jason Bahr is a composer living in southwest Florida. He has had over 600 combined performances of his works. Bahr has received a MacDowell Colony Residency, a Fromm Foundation commission, the Northridge Prize for Orchestral Composition and the Cambridge Madrigal Singers Choral Composition Competition. He holds masters and doctorate degrees in music composition from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and a bachelor's degree in music composition from the University of Missouri at Kansas City Conservatory.

Bahr has written a one-act opera (The Gift of the Magi), a choral symphony, a symphony for band, a flute concerto and other assorted works for orchestra, 20 chamber works, 15 piano preludes, 13 additional works for solo instruments, ten choral works, and 20 songs. His current project, Letters from Elbert, sets to music letters written by his grandfather while he was in the Navy during World War II.

Bahr is an active performer and is the bass section leader for the Opera Naples Chorus in Naples, FL. He has also served as the bass section leader for the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, the Fort Myers Symphonic Mastersingers and has sung with Gulfshore Opera among other groups.

A Kansas City native, Bahr is an avid fan of the Royals and Chiefs. He makes his home with his wife Rebecca and their cat Ray. SDG
