ODTD051 marks the Øddity debut of in-demand melodic techno titan Olivier Giacomotto. Renowned for high quality productions allied to a complete dedication to his craft, Olivier has recent releases and remixes on Atlant, Spectrum, Radikon, Einmusika and his own label Definitive. There’s been a lot of excitement around Olivier lately - on the evidence of these two new stunning tracks its easy to see why.

Leading the way is title track ‘Empty Space’. Setting an urgent driving 4/4 pace right from the start Olivier displays total understanding of the key elements needed to get the dance-floor locked in. Deep pulsating bass and dramatic percussive crashes create a heightened sense of anticipation, before cool fx ridden vox and a jagged arp attack lead to the momentous breakdown. From here Olivier cranks the intensity dial up to 11 right through to the end.

‘Ride With Me’ takes you deeper into Olivier’s mind as its powerful driving groove leads way to an unforgettable melody and vocal. A masterful arranger, Olivier uses rich synths, simmering arps and ringing keys to create a perfect point for the uplifting vocal to enter. ODTD052 concludes another ground breaking year on Øddity by welcoming back Neapolitan duo Moonwalk. Since 2021’s acclaimed Solaris EP [ODTD019] Moonwalk have put out key releases for Still Vor Talent, Spectrum and Odd One Out. Mauro and Dario have again been working their magic in the studio, crafting two deep energetic melodic techno gems to close out 2023 on a real high.

Spellbinding title track ‘Gattaca’ sets a focused driving groove from the first bars and straps you in for a thrilling ride. Fx saturated vox samples and reverberating arps pull you in further, leading to a classy synth rich breakdown. From here emotional cathedral like chords heighten your sense of anticipation, creating the perfect moment for rising beats kick back in. Expect a sea of raised arms and happy clubbers.

‘Omnia’ treads a deeper and darker path. Swirling futuristic keys add to the sense of drama, which is amplified further by sonic sub-bass pulses. The melodic breakdown delivers a momentary sense of calm, before staccato drums and throbbing bass pulses amp up the intensity. From here swirling arps transfix and send a shiver down your spine.

Mesmerising original ‘Driven By The Stars’ sets a pulsing melodic groove from the get go, immediately locking you in. With Ant Art’s emphatic vocal taking over the intensity building over each successive bar. From here Final Request adds ringing keys, heart wrenching chords, driving bass and urgent beats as the track explodes.

Øddity label boss Fur Coat provides the first in a compelling trio of remixes. Focused dark tones and thumping beats set the scene, as Sergio uses Ant’s vocal as the focal point, cleverly adding his now spin through a sumptuous hypnotic melody and pulsating bass-line. This classy remix deserves a powerful sound system for maximum impact.

Coeus turns in a dynamic and expansive interstellar journey full of twists and turns. Disorientating staccato keys create the perfect point for the vocal to enter, leading to stunning breakdown. Not to be outdone Olivier Giacomotto closes the EP in a cavernous melodic techno interpretation that drags you deep into the abyss. After rising up from the underground Hamburg scene to international recognition - Magdalena adds to an impressive body of work spanning Zamna Records, Renaissance, Diynamic, Bedrock, Still Vor Talent & Warung. The two dance fueled tracks on offer really showcase her talent for fusing melody and energy.

Emphatic opener Midnight Embrace sets a deep focused groove from the first bar. Tasteful melodies intertwine, drawing you into the melodic core. Classy use of percussion leads to a fine breakdown, momentarily making the room stop - before the crowd dances together in unison. Not to be outdone, Echoes showcases Magdalena’s ability to use subtle elements to maximum effect. Cleverly crafted, Echoes hypnotizes the listener. Displaying great taste, Magdalena’s less means more approach combines shimmering arps, emotive chords, resonating atmospherics and crisp hats to stunning effect. An artist at the top of their game.

Oddity is an imprint curated and delivered by Fur Coat, focusing on melodic house and techno. Having begun to drive his career and sound in a deeper direction, the realization of his own label has given him the best platform to showcase this.

“Starting my own label is something that I´ve had in mind for a long time. It’s a platform to express myself and have 100% the control on the art concept I want to put on each release, the music I want to show from myself and the artists I share passion for, giving me the ability to invite them onto the label.

The label is giving Fur Coat the opportunity to explore artistically and promises to give a platform to new artists that fit with the sonic direction, whilst also inviting heritage talent onboard for remixing.
