After releasing five sold out various artists EP’s featuring 25 artists, positivesource is excited to present a new chapter for the label with a diverse and anthemic EP from Berlin based producer Regent.

No stranger to the label, Regent contributed to src005 last year with his smooth techno roller ‘Off Agenda’ alongside music from Neri J, Alpha Tracks, Vil & Cravo. His tracks have featured heavily in DJ sets by label founders Blue Hour and Philippa Pacho over the years, naturally the idea to present the first artist EP on positivesource with Regent comes as no surprise. The record starts on a hypnotic tip with ‘Occult’, grooving along with an infectious bass-line swung beats and blissed out atmospherics before stepping up the energy levels on ‘Khmera’, a relentless chord driven percussive anthem with nostalgic vocals rising to new heights. On the flip the title track ‘Aphid Riot’ is bold and vibrant leaning heavily into UK flavours using sliced up vocals, breakbeats and a classic ‘Reece’ bass-line. Completing the record is a ‘broken’ version of ‘Aphid Riot’ highlighting an ethereal tonal melody with a deeper and more introspective take on the original. It’s a new sound exploration from the producer, demonstrating his versatility and perhaps a rare moment in his discography.

Filólogo de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Piter nace en Bogotá, Colombia el 20 de Diciembre de 1982

La década anterior al 2000. Piter crece como un fanático de la música electrónica escuchando las franjas radiales de la época la X 103.9 (Zona X) y Frecuencia Joven de la Radiodifusora Nacional de Colombia 99.1 (Alerta Roja), descubriendo así su pasión por la música, la noche y el deseo de convertirse en un entretenedor.

En el año 2000 comienza a asistir a la Radio Nacional y así seguir más de cerca el programa de radio Alerta Roja, para luego convertirse en un miembro de este equipo de trabajo, en donde tuvo su primer acercamiento con las tornamesas a la edad de 17 años, en este mismo año escuchó el álbum de Sven Vaeth “Contact” y conoció la existencia del concepto Cocoon el cual impactó a De Vries.

En 2001, de raver habitual a la cabina del DJ, Piter inicia tocando en fiestas privadas, algunos bares y pequeños clubs de su ciudad natal tras el seudónimo de Pi-X, construyendo asi su técnica de mezcla y buscando el sonido que caracteriza a sus sesiones.

Entre los años 2002 y 2006 Piter, junto a sus compañeros de universidad y de trabajo de la radio nacional, hacen algunas presentaciones culturales bajo el nombre de Westphalia en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. En estos eventos se realizaron conferencias acerca de la historia de la música electrónica y muestras musicales con la intervención de Djs en vivo.

Después de la terminación del programa de radio Alerta Roja en el año 2004, De Vries se sumerge en el underground, teniendo así un nuevo principio y renaciendo a la búsqueda de nuevos sonidos para su maleta, manteniendo así viva su pasión por la música electrónica.

En 2008, De Vries hace un receso para iniciar con un nuevo proceso y la experimentación con la producción musical, expresando diferentes estados y sentimientos de su vida y mostrando parte de su alma.

En 2009, tras continuar con su experimentación en la producción musical, actualiza su maleta de discos y regresa a la movida nocturna tocando en clubes, bares y fiestas privadas.

Desde 2010, De Vries con más de diez años de experiencia en la vida nocturna y con la influencia de muchos artistas, la mayoría de ellos del sello Cocoon, nunca olvida la escencia del DJ tradicional: buena energía, buena música y una maleta de vinilos. Ha realizado una serie de eventos en bares para mostrar música contemporánea lejos del movimiento popular y convencional que se maneja en su ciudad, Bogotá, manifestando su agrado por nuevos estilos musicales y sellos europeos, y mostrando así un nuevo concepto, además de dar a conocer y respaldar a nuevos talentos.
