Picture this: A balmy early summer night at a stunning villa nestled in the hills of Saint Maxime, overlooking the glistening bay of Saint Tropez.

The occasion? An incredible private event with many new friends and old. The breathtaking view of the bay, dotted with elegant yachts, is complemented by dancing and the laughter of friends from around the world, all gathered above a turquoise pool, which was the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable musical journey.

I'm thrilled to share this live recording from such an enchanting evening.

As I played these 24 tracks, I did my best to channel the essence of the French Riviera's sun-drenched terraces, crystal-clear waters, and Joie de vivre.  

It features a diverse selection of Organic House, Afro House, Tech House, and Indie Dance from various talented artists listed below.

After a wild and wonderful week for dust & mud, This impromptu evening on the bus was stitched together quite suddenly by our dear Robots, who assembled all the loons left behind from the fleeing masses on Monday night. This may have been one of the best nights in terms of vibe i’ve felt on the playa in a long time. For the true warriors stayed for the next few days to extend our journey without a single complaint of rain or mud to be whispered at any point throughout the evening. To those who were in attendance… i salute you. To the responsible ones who were on the move… dont worry, we saved you your seats. To the global family who skipped this year with an unexpected smile… guess again 😉. And to my favorite wizards, witches, and warriors of the Robot Heart… you make the magic true and dependable year after year, rain or shine, virgins or veterans, hardships and happiness. It was an absolute treat to perform this set at the Robot Heart residency. A fantastic space with excellent sound, closely situated to Burning Man's physical roots, celebrating a broad creative spectrum of music, lighting, and physical installation art — what's not to love? 

It was the perfect setting to debut this "A/Vfib Live" show. After 20+ years of making dance music and 10+ years working on LED art, the concept of a singular integrated performance of original audio-visual content had been slowly gathering steam in my mind. 

With this opportunity, the moment finally felt right. Huge gratitude to the whole Robot Heart team and the Defibrillator lighting crew for creating such a unique multi-media canvas to play on, for trusting me to explore new material, and for fostering so much creative development along the way. Special thanks to @shafferj for "seeing the light" many years ago and steadily encouraging this work ever since, from freezing our asses off shooting photos at night to developing supremely cozy butt-warming interior lighting environments.

For pretty much the whole year I’m either headed towards or away from Burning Man. 

Each year out there there’s this moment in space and time where I feel perfectly balanced between the two. It’s a moment where time stands still, just for a second. 

That moment is when the first ember of the day’s sun peaks over the mountain top to begin its journey once more. 

I try to find a piece of music to express the feeling of stillness and presence I get.  This year the sun was kind enough to arrive 1 hour 28 minutes and 40 seconds into this mix. I was in awe. I’m still in awe.

Some of the magic of the playa for me is where the nature blends with boundless creativity. Where love meets wonder and we get to laugh, dance and play. Add a dash of music for good measure and, for a moment, that magic catches its breath to take it all in, and stands still.

2024 was one of my favorite years ever. Thank you to all you artists and lovers, cooks and cuddlers. To all those who toil for months before and after to make it happen and to anyone who gave anything to another. You’re all amazing. I’m currently headed back towards (or is it away from) that moment once more.

Lee Burridge - Robot Heart - Burning Man 2024

One year ago today, October 29, 2023, we said our final goodbye to 159. A building that is dear to our hearts and the birth site of the Robot Heart community. We gathered there to celebrate life, love and beats. 

Closing set, 11AM to .......!

I played many closing sets within those walls, but this “final final” hit differently. I poured my heart into the music, weaving through pockets of tunes that felt just right for that moment—to honor Geo, the space, the neighborhood, and our dusty roots. 

Big thanks to Benji for making this celebration happen and to all the family and friends who brought the Halloween heat! 

The red door is etched in my soul, and seeing it on the playa this year was truly special. (Thank you, Zach C., for taking the lead.)

Playing on the Robot Heart bus at Burning Man is a dream I’ll never get tired of living. Robot Heart is a constant source of inspiration to me and so many others! Grateful for the opportunity to play on the bus again. 

This year (2024), my set time was Monday Morning at 7:00 am so I wanted to prepare something special for the beginning of an unforgettable week. 

I decided to play a live set filled with most of the Edits/Remixes I’ve made along the years (for example: Edits/Remixes I’ve made of Alice Coltrane, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Michelle Gurevich, Acid Pauli, Nicolas Jaar, Fred Again, etc…). 

I honestly couldn’t be happier with the result of this experiment!

As a 20 year resident DJ of San Francisco's notorious club scene, Joseph Lee has delighted dance-floor revelers from S.F. and beyond.  From early morning sunrise sets at Burning Man, to outdoor day parties in the park and street fairs, all the way to ‘4 on the floor ‘ late night after hours… “Any time, is a good time , for Deep House”

J-Lee has cultivated many ideas that support the dance music scene by sharing these sounds to the general public, such as building a giant spaceship float with a 150,000 watt sound system for SFPride2000.  This ultimately led to bringing Love Parade to the U.S. in San Francisco, as well as many other public gatherings such as Halloween in the Castro, Pink Saturday, and Portland Pride.  Most recently, he has designed, built, DJ’s and hosts a newly beloved mobile DJ-SoundSystem called the Robo-Kart.
