Growth & Resilience | 'Tides' Sound Meditation Series | April 2024

I first heard this song from Doug Adrianson at the Topa Institute, which in its original form consisted of just the first part, "Be still and know that day and night, be still and know that dark and light, are one holy circle." A few months later, I was sitting alone in the interfaith public chapel at the new Tulum International Airport, singing with my shruti box, when the second part came through. Note that in this version the first two lines of the first part are sung in six beats each, but if you are teaching it to a group you can sing them in four beats and have the group echo back in four beats.

Ob in der Musik, Tanz oder im Theater, seit jeher hat mich die freie Improvisation fasziniert. Besonders zuhause fühle ich mich in der spirituellen Musik der Naturvölker.
So sehe ich Musik und vor allem Improvisation als hohe Form des göttlichen Lobpreises um in Verbindung mit den Elementen ganz in die Schwingung von Mutter Erde einzutauchen und ihre Liebe zu teilen.

Whether in music, dance or theater, I have always been fascinated by improvisation. I feel particularly at home in the spiritual music of indigenous tribes. For me, music – especially when improvised – is a high form of spiritual worship. Connecting with all the elements, it becomes possible to dive into the deep vibrations of mother Earth and to share her love.

Award-winning songwriter, Folkgoddess Diane Patterson 
subverts the dominant paradigm with rocking acoustic guitar and ukulele, 
a mighty pen, and a woman's voice, since 1989.

Margo Free is a Canadian light language vocal channeller, electronic and sound-healing music producer, and performer whose ethereal voice and transformative soundscapes have mesmerized audiences worldwide. Born in Burlington, ON, her music weaves together the immersive worlds of electronic, rock, tribal and sound healing. Known for infusing emotional depth with activating light language vocals, Margo’s work transcends genres to tell a story of unity, healing, higher consciousness and the interconnectedness of humanity.

Nenĭa Iră est un projet musical mené par Aurélia Nardini, vocaliste et compositrice Marseillaise.
Pour son premier projet solo, elle puise dans la richesse du chant modal de diverses régions du monde (Provence, Bretagne, Europe du Nord, Inde...) pour composer des chansons résolumment contemporaines.
Accompagnée à la shrutibox (accordéon indien), elle déploie une voix puissante au timbre varié,  jouant et déjouant les références aux musiques traditionnelles.
Soutenue par des arrangements travaillés avec soin, elle s’accompagne en live de batteries et effets électroniques.
Nenĭa Iră puise dans ses expériences intimes et sombres pour tenter de les transcender par le chant ; sa poésie écrite en Français nous raconte les petites et grandes épreuves de la vie, tout en nous encourageant à les surmonter.
