UniverSouLove a.k.a. Christopher D. Sims is a rapper, spoken word poet, writer of poetry, and a recording artist. He has performed all over the continental United States. Discovering his writing and performing abilities when he was a young child, he quickly began to hone his writing and performing abilities. He has performed in New York City, Chicago, IL, Memphis, TN, Nashville, TN, St. Louis, MO, Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, and in Toronto, Canada - as well as many other places. He is always exploring the depths of creativity and getting better as a writer and as a performer. He is an initial and original SoundCloud Ambassador.

From the tender age of five, I was destined to be a musical dynamo, first pounding the skins with a ferocity that belied my years. By the time I strapped on my first six-string—a rite of passage at age 12—I was already conjuring riffs that echoed through the halls of my youth. School days were a sonic blur as I wielded both bass and guitar in a rock outfit that tore through the classics: Pink Floyd’s psychedelic sprawl, Hendrix’s electric voodoo, Nirvana’s raw angst, Led Zeppelin’s thunder, and AC/DC’s high-voltage grit—nothing was off-limits. But that was just the beginning.

Parallel to the distortion-drenched chaos, I moonlighted in an acapella-style RnB boy band, our harmonies slick enough to turn heads and melt hearts. That gig soon morphed into something grittier—an Aussie hip-hop crew where I became a one-man musical arsenal, mastering every instrument in the mix. Drums? My primal heartbeat. Guitar? My soul’s scream. Bass? That was Larry Graham’s fault—his funked-up genius hit me like a lightning bolt at 15, and I’ve been slapping and grooving ever since. Keys? I dabbled, weaving melodies like a mad scientist in a sonic lab.

By 15, I was no stranger to the spotlight—cutting tracks in studios and rocking gigs with a swagger that only comes from years of hustle. Now, I’m a lone wolf, crafting my own soundscapes. I’ll admit, my vocal chops won’t win any opera awards, but I belt it out with the kind of gusto that makes you feel alive. From schoolyard jams to hip-hop evolution, I’ve lived a dozen musical lives—and I’m still riffing my way through the next one.
