a blatant modular noodle here... but i just got a Xaox Zadar in and this is the first patch. here using it as 3 very granular LFOs. one controlling a VCA and the volume of an e355 oscillator. another controlling the wave shape of the oscillator and a 3rd Zadar LFO/env controlling the FEEDBACK input of an intellijel Springray.

i didn't pay much attention to the Zadar when it was released but when i saw it in the light of 4 asynchronous loopable LFOs with very granular and tweakable shapes a bunch of ideas popped into my head.

apologies for the blatant modular noodle. better things will come.

February 28, 2022 (noisy noodle)

was testing computer-modular integration last night (via Expert Sleepers), stopped the sequence for a moment and thought that the drone by itself sounded good, so just played with that for a while

wavetable oscillators + reverbs = <3

basically, Piston Honda and ShapeShifter wavetable oscillators going through Springray spring reverb and ZDSP running Valhalla reverb card

reaching to turn on my modular synth last night my finger caught the edge of a large spring reverb tank on the table next to it. during that instant i felt the sharp edge sink into my skin and knew blood was soon to flow.

the nature of this sound was determined at that point.

earlier i had been working on some bell sounds. trying to make a soft, pretty sound, as i typically do. but as i proceeded with a towel over my finger to soak up the blood the patch, as they typically do with only a few knob turns, took a completely different path.

everything slowed down as i cranked up the feedback of the (intellijel springray) spring reverb. i had also put another reverb (make noise erbe verb) into the feedback path of the make noise echophon delay.

the moving undertones in this sound are from an intellijel dixie but the main, droning tones is the feedback from the spring reverb. by controlling second tilt EQ parameter you can control the pitch of the feedback. very nice.

as i've said before, i love how with a modular synthesizer, for better or for worse, only a few knob changes or the change of a chord or two can completely change a sound. 180 degrees. the sounds are alive, volatile and forever escaping our grasp.

DPO going to FMAid with Planar mixing the FMAids outputs parallely into Echophon and Phonogene with broken Echo Mode turned on and directly into Optomix. Optomix struck with Maths envelope which is being modulated by Wogglebugs woggle CV out.

2015-04-08 - Biatch Acid

This is a demo track for some Intellijel modules. The module revolves around the Metropolis, playing an 11 stage pattern. It's gate lengths are being shifted by a Turing Machine, while the octaves are being shifted by triangle LFO.

The clock from a 4MS QCD is controlling the timing of the Metropolis, Turing Machine, and Echophon.

The pitch is being multed out to a Shapeshifter and a Dixie II. The Shape 1 input on the Shapeshifter is being modified by a sawtooth LFO. Both are being sent to the inputs on a Korgasmatron II. The main mix out is sent to a uVCA II, opened by an ADSR, which is triggered by the Metropolis.

All filter tweaks are done by hand.

The output of the uVCA is being sent to a Springray, which is then being sent to a Make Noise Rosie. The effects send is going to a Make Noise Echophon, with some minor pitch shifting going on.

The track was recorded via a Steinberg UR824 and recorded in reaper. Some minor eq/compression was applied, and then Valhalla Reverb was added to open the sound up a bit.

intellijel module test

I recently added an Intellijel Springray spring reverb and Harvestman  Polivoks vcf to my system. This is a little test. The Springray is on the high sound (a Noise Engineering Basimulus) and the Polivoks is filtering the bass sound (a Noise Engineering Atarix Translatron). The sequence and filtering is coming from a Make Noise Pressure Points and it is being transposed by a QuNexus. The QuNexus can transpose the "PP" perfectly with help from Unity Mixer (in this case an Intellijel one).  The drums are a DrumDokta2.
