Prague-based producer Täino returns with ‘Street Tales’, his third solo outing, self-released with a bold yet intimate sense of independence.

Following previous work on labels including German imprint Tonal, Antwerp’s Pollen Sounds, and his own Moving Pictures, Täino delivers an EP that navigates the intersection of deep house and breakbeat rhythms. Across 3-tracks, he crafts a hybrid sound that fuses driving dancefloor energy with nuanced references to his hip-hop roots. The release subtly channels diverse influences, incorporating interludes that nod to iconic moments in hip-hop history – specifically Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DNA‘ and Kanye West’s ‘Feedback‘.

Street Tales is another personal project of mine that is coming exclusively via Bandcamp. I’ve been working on these tracks over the past few months, focusing on enjoying the process and avoiding overthinking. The result is three compositions that blend house and breakbeat grooves, with a touch of vocal samples from some of my favorite rap songs. Enjoy! ツ

Täino is a Prague-based DJ, producer, and graphic artist. He is also a co-founder of the record label Moving Pictures, along with fellow producer Roman Rai.

Originally from Azerbaijan, Täino blends diverse electronic styles like downtempo, breakbeat, and house/techno, incorporating experimental elements such as intricate broken beats, vocal cuts, and atmospheric layers.

Active in the Czech electronic scene, Täino has released multiple EPs and singles. His sounds have appeared on local and international labels like Tonal, Random Collective, Beef Records, Xion, and Moving Pictures.

Alongside his musical output, he creates visual art, further contributing to the recognizable identity of his label and projects. His creative work is heavily influenced by his cultural background and his experiences in Prague’s vibrant electronic music scene.

DJ set recorded live at the Underground Crypt stage @ SOUND inside the monastery walls of Gabriel Loci.

One of my favourite types of sets when you can build the energy layer by layer, letting space and patience shape the mood. All while keeping that hypnotic, meditative tension throughout.

Nowadays it feels really special to play this kind of deeper, slower sound - something that’s been fading from Prague’s scene over the past few years. I’ve missed this energy and it felt right to bring it back in this event. 

2 hours of deep house, techno, minimal, broken rhythms & dub textures - mixed straight from my all time fav Xone ;)

Puerto Rican composer William Ortiz was raised and educated in the United States, but his Latino identity plays a vital role in his music. Particularly, his experience as a Nuyorican in the 1970s have informed the aesthetics of his music, which transforms the sounds of the streets into art music. Unique in that respect is the use of instrumental and vocalized graffiti that are integrated in some of his works. A professor at the University of Puerto Rico at Bayamón, he has taught at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and is Music Director of the Ateneo Puertorriqueño. 
He makes the following statement on his music: "I conceive of music as the 'vibrant beauty' of urban life; as the expressions of the cries and shouts of the street - cries and shouts that reflect the thoughts of those who are oppressed, of those who feel. It is my intent to convert the language of the street into a legitimate instrument".
