The new addition to the Calypso universe is our friend from York, Great Britain, Paul Fawcett a.k.a Tecwaa.
His EP comes with 4 tracks full of analog drums and synths ranging from driven acid house approaches, minamilistic grooves to old school downtempo vibes and beats.
We say hello to 2026 with this release, the year will bring a lot more of music from our favorite freaks & weirdos from across the globe and beyond!

Premiere : Tecwaa - What Is What Is Whaa [Calypso Records]

Tecwaa is the solo project of York based producer Paul Fawcett, a musician who discovered his sound in the North England techno scene and went on to nurture it with movie scores, Detroit techno and homegrown electronica.

His debut brings together three pieces of original machine music alongside a very special remix. The menacing “The Eighth Circuit” broods into being. Looming synthwork is further darkened by distant vocals, house percussion keeping time in this sinister opener.

As they assessed the devestation, looking into the abyss, it was easy for her to take all the blame. After all the damage was irrepairable. The fire was still raging and was entirely out of control. It was easy to completely pin the blame on her, but this was a crime of passion, this was something she couldnt have done on her own.
The benign realisation was that it takes two.

Roe Deers are currently spearheading a wave of Lithuanian dark, weird and wonderful dance music and their debut EP for Jo Howard's Sulk Magic impring gets a wonderful rework from Tecwaa, based in York.  
With EPs and remixes on Frigio and Limpit Music, Tecwaa skews the original turning it into a slow burning dark breakbeat brute, with atmospheric pads awash with reverb which could easily slot nicely into a John Carpenter movie about a city under siege. 
Disembodied vocals, clanging bells and schitzophrenic production give this track a menacing edge which will send a shiver down the dancefloor. Roe Deers and Tecwaa quite succinctly show us that it does indeed take two!

Sulk Magic (@birdofparadisemusic) welcomes the newest edition to the family in tecwaa. The York based newcomer has come to the fore with unconventional & wistful soundscapes. Three originals bolstered with three remixes by Sulk Magic bastion Force Majeure, Lithuanian hot-shot Urexboyfriend and label linchpin Bird of Paradise.

The title track ‘El Kopan’ demonstrates tecwaa’s gift for the forlorn, warm synths and intricate melodies float over percussion. Whilst @ForceMajeuree creates a Moroder esque interpretation with rhythmic arpeggios and suspense filled guitar lines.
