DJ Caveirinha - SOULMEEX 025

My third attempt at mixing down something from the raw tracks our drummer recorded in our practice space several weeks back (see the description on the previous track "Keep On Running"). Like with the other two mixed songs I posted, we are currently devoid of a lead singer, so our guitarist handled the main vocal task... The bass guitar track on this one was in much better shape to begin with... Nothing was really difficult with this mix.  I did a lot of noise gate type stuff on the various tracks, compression, and some EQ stuff, and added a very short duration reverb to almost everything. This one is a version of "Have Love, Will Travel," famously done by the Sonics in a much cruder, dirtier fashion. Since there was no way to get the same filth effect as the Sonics' version, I just did what I could to make our version sound decent. It's not a pretty tune, there's no "magic pixie dust" of any sort, it's just a meat and potatoes rock song.
