Chapter One

Do you remember when, we broke the night
It screamed and fought, from the black and white
Your voices danced, where the old cross met
Leaving it to chance, as friendship wept

The track you played, was scared and worn
And all that remained, was the thunderstorm
It tore and smashed, with banshees cries
Frustration thrashed, in mistrust and lies

I travelled West, to find some relief
But your voice followed, couldn’t leave me in peace
And I howled and wept, to the moon that night
A lament I accepted, on the edge of heights
It couldn’t, be

The night was clear, the stars couldn’t hide
They burned so bright, but had long since died
That’s the illusion, not really being there
You couldn’t shine, you couldn’t dare
It couldn’t be, Trick me, Trick me

Forever ah-men, lost to a pregnant pause
The sacrificial cost, an abortive applause
And the lover’s dream, couldn’t be restored
Was lost in a scream, that fell to the shore

And they say nothing, of the tempest they’d seen
As it swept us up, in what could of been
But the streets had changed, in denial and shame
So we left what remained, for another game
It couldn’t, be

The night was clear, the stars couldn’t hide
They burned so bright, but had long since died

It’s always there…  Always unkind
Always Hidden… Stalking your mind
A Constant distraction… Constantly defies
That constant irritant… That mote in your eye

In dreams it waits…  Dreams with no end
Dreams that haunt… You can’t apprehend
That fear you know… The fear you believe
A fear of what’s next… That never leaves

There’s no point complaining or trying to explain
I can’t escape the torment, shelter from this reign   
It’s not like I haven’t tried, or pretended not to care

 In a quiet leather quiver,
I’ve been waiting for the day
When the bowstring calls my name
And I finally fly away.

I’m a lonely wooden arrow
Dreaming of the sky so clear—
Made for one brief, burning moment
As I hunt the silent deer.

I hear whispers from the forest,
Feel the hunter drawing near—
Every heartbeat stirs my longing,
Every footstep echoes fear.

Better one true flight of freedom
Than a lifetime lying here.
