This week we are chatting with extremely fast elite runner Jeff Colt!!

Jeff is fresh off an 8th place male finish at the Western States 100 (one of the fastest and most competitive 100s in the US)!! In this episode he shares tales from that race- what it was like to compete with the best of the best, what he learned about himself by pushing his limits and going "all in", and how he balances the commitments of being a pro runner to the commitments of life.

We also chat a bit about his time as a Ski Jumper and he shares the story of his very first attempt at an ultra trail run which was a very memorable and chafed experience!

Tuesday - Dubs Day Vol. 1

Chelsea Jackson is an avid hiker and trail runner who works for the New Hampshire State Parks on the summit of Mt. Washington!

Mt. Washington is notorious for having the "world's worst weather" and consistently has days where windspeed is over 100 mph. The summers can have major temperature swings when storms blow in (or as Chelsea calls the storms..."Impending Doom") and the winters can be absolutely brutal with extremely low temperatures on top of crazy powerful winds.

Chelsea has a very unique experience of living and working on the summit through the busy summer season but also the isolated winter. In this episode we hear all about how she made a major life transition and took a major leap to pursue this job, what the day to day life of living in extreme weather is like, and how trail running led her to this adventure!

Aujourd’hui, nous allons discuter de la condition physique, de son importance et de son influence sur la santé, notamment pour la course à pied.
Je vais vous expliquer ce qui est important à mes yeux et comment je l'introduis dans le concept d'entraînement, que ce soit pour des individus ou pour des groupes s'entraînant sur différentes distances.
Nous parlerons donc de son importance, du concept pyramidal, de la différence entre des exercices isométriques, concentriques, excentriques ou pliométriques, puis de la force intermusculaire à l’intramusculaire ainsi que des méthodes utilisées pour l’entraînement de la condition physique ou de la force spécifique.
Les méthodes et façons de s’entraîner, que ce soit les fascias, le yoga avec des haltères ou sur les machines de fitness, les différences entre force endurance, générale, explosive, hypertrophie, maximale et réactive, ce qui nous amènera dans un prochain podcast à l’entraînement de force spécifique pour la course à pied, par exemple à travers les exercices d’école de course.

Les termes "entraînement mental" sont de plus en plus répandus, mais que signifient-ils vraiment ? Que recouvrent des concepts comme la pensée positive, la relaxation, la concentration, la visualisation, ou encore la préparation tactique, surtout dans des sports d'endurance comme la course de montagne, le trail running, ou l'ultra-trail ? Dans ces disciplines, l'athlète est souvent confronté aux limites extrêmes de ses capacités physiques et psychiques.
Dans cet épisode, nous explorerons des méthodes et techniques issues de la psychologie et des neurosciences pour optimiser nos capacités mentales, tout en les appliquant à un coaching plus efficace. Ma phrase favorite est : "Tout commence dans la tête, puis le corps suit." Bien que la réalité soit plus complexe, cette simple vérité a un impact énorme pour beaucoup d'athlètes.
Je vous expliquerai ce qui, à mes yeux, est essentiel et comment j'intègre ces concepts dans mes plans d'entraînement, que ce soit pour des individus ou des groupes, sur des distances variées.
