To mark its tenth digital release, the Bizarre Trax-affiliated TAN label unveils TAN Trax All Stars - a ten-track celebration that feels more like a love letter to the crew’s extended musical family than a mere compilation. What started as a playful outlet parallel to the more curated, wax-driven Bizarre Trax has evolved into a fully formed identity of its own: cheeky, groove-soaked, and ever dancefloor-minded.

Opening this milestone release is “Imperfection” by Jhobei - not just TAN royalty, but one of the driving forces behind Bizarre Trax itself. With past outings on FUSE, Up The Stuss, Locked In, Mood Waves, BinarySound, and more, Jhobei’s sound has become a trademark: a hybrid of housey warmth, technical precision, and just enough cheek to make you smile mid-mix.

“Imperfection” doesn’t knock at the door - it slips through the cracks like golden hour light, casting long shadows of funk and warmth across the floor. A nimble House bassline sets the pulse, elastic but grounded, wrapped in fluttering pads and tight, swung percussion. The titular vocal - clipped, unfussy - drops in almost as an afterthought, but anchors the track like a mantra. Jhobei adds just enough synth variation to keep the groove shapeshifting, always teasing, never overplaying its hand.

Like much of Jhobei’s work, “Imperfection” doesn’t beg to be heard - it just feels like it’s always been there, waiting to soundtrack a hazy morning after or a peak-time wiggle. As far as mission statements go, it’s a perfect opener for an imprint built on community, playfulness, and groove without ego.

Ten releases deep, TAN’s personality is sharper than ever - and “Imperfection” is a reminder that sometimes the smoothest things come with just the right amount of grit.

Here's my opening set at legendary DIY club and Berlin underground staple Jonny Knüppel in Prenzlauer Berg. Despite some awful mixes I'm so happy about how this selection came out, because, you never know what you're gonna play at an opening set but honestly it's what I feel like playing anywhere and anytime right now. Stepping onto Up The Stuss for the first time, Anil Aras presents his ‘Through The Night’ EP, a record that captures the tension and release of the dancefloor after dark. Across four tracks, the Utrecht artist distills his trademark swing and subtle intensity into a body of work that feels alive in the moment yet timeless in its form. It’s a project that mirrors the transitions of night itself, shifting between lightness and weight, clarity and haze, while staying rooted in the grooves that have defined his journey to date.

A central figure within the Dutch scene and a long-time member of the revered SlapFunk collective, Aras has carved out a space within the house realm via his unrelenting energy behind the decks and a production style that bridges classic influences with forward-facing ideas. Releases on labels such as No Art, Hot Haus Recs, and the aforementioned SlapFunk have highlighted his instinct for crafting music that connects instantly on the floor, while his hybrid TR-909-driven DJ sets have taken him to international stages, including Glastonbury and throughout Ibiza.

With ‘Through The Night’, he brings that same approach to Up The Stuss, delivering a four-tracker that is both powerful yet subtle and versatile. Shaped for the dancefloor but rich in detail, the release captures the essence of his artistry - a dedication to groove, atmosphere, and the moments that unite dancers worldwide. It’s a debut that feels both natural and essential, adding a new shade to the label’s palette while opening another path for Aras’ evolving sound.

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.
